John McCain ditches his liberal past and turns hard right

The Republican 'maverick' bends in the wind of Tea Party-style politics

When does being a maverick turn into a shameless flip-flopper? Pretty much about now, according to many observers of the long and storied political career of former Republican presidential candidate John McCain.

Senator McCain, pictured, is now caught in one of the toughest political fights of his life, facing off in a primary fight against the Tea Party-style challenger JD Hayworth. And he is doing it in Arizona, which has just passed a strict anti-illegal immigrant law so controversial the White House is taking it to court.

All this means that McCain's traditionally liberal attitudes to immigration reform were always likely to take a bit of a hit. But few people can have predicted just how far McCain would go in rowing away from the previous positions that won him praise as recently as 2007 when he co-sponsored reform legislation with famed liberal Senator Ted Kennedy.

It’s time to deport Juan back to Arizona.

John McCain ditches his liberal past and turns hard right

But he's scheduled a U-turn sometime after the first week in November.

And stay a committed, solid Conservative he will!
Until a day after he is re-elected.

Sort of an voter I.Q. test:
Have memory of McCain’s voting and behavior record: vote against him.
Are senile and can’t remember yesterday or farther back? Or have an I.Q. of a box of rocks?:
vote for him

If elections came more often, McCain would pretend to be a Republican more often.

Ah, try the word ego. He thinks his Vietnam and prisoner of war experience entitle him. Also, he loves state-run media attention. I’m sure the crumbs his friends the demrats throw his way don’t hurt either.

Arizona voters, don't be "Charlie Brown'd" again! McCain will yank that football away after November!

Ditches?

No. It is like his suspending his 2008 campaign to rush to Washington and save the bail-out bill, after claiming in the debates that he would end earmarks (this bail-out bill ADDED $150Billion in perks and earmarks).

He has just temporarily suspended the liberal aspect of his politics. If/when he wins the primary, the dust won't have settled before he is back to his old self, reaching out to his friends across the aisle, and pushing for amnesty comprehensive immigration reform.

The chameleon may change color for the immediate, but underneath, it is still a chameleon. Underneath, John McCain is still John McCain.

Seriously — why is it so hard for McCain to call it a day, and retire?

Thurmond

Byrd

Kennedy

et al

They like the power trip. They like the attention. They want to beat the longevity records of Thurmond and Byrd.

If Mc lost his Senate seat, how many invites would he get from the MSM a year after? Few, if any.

As a sitting Senator, he has a open invite to most MSM. And what would the Sunday morning news talkies be with Mc and his butt pimple, Cheezy?

If McCain thought he could win an election by advocating the repeal of the 2nd amendment, complete erasure of our national borders, and sharia law replacing the Constitution, then that is precisely what he’d advocate. The old POS is quite mad.
