2 officers out of jobs in wake of repeated Tasering of woman
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | Monday, July 12, 2010 | Rhonda Cook

Janice Wells called the Richland Police Department when she feared a prowler was outside her clapboard house in the rural west Georgia town.

The third-grade teacher had phoned for help. But within minutes of an officer coming to her backdoor, she was screaming in pain and begging not to be shocked again with a Taser. With each scream and cry, the officer threatened her with more shocks.

~~~~~~~~~~~
"I did what I had to do to take control of the situation," Smith told the AJC about his decision to repeatedly discharge his Taser.
Is there not a limit to how many times a person should be tased?
It must be more than 19 times.
Two members of a small town police force in this area tased a young man 19 times who jumped or fell from an overpass as he was thrashing about on the ground of the shoulder of the road below.
The stated reason for the tasering was that they did not want him to reach the roadway and be hit by a vehicle before medical personel arrived.
After an investigation by the Missouri Highway Patrol they were cleared of any wrong doing.
"Why didn't he ask him his name??"
I'll take a swing at this one. In the initial interviews, it is possible that the investigating officer did not immediately suspect domestic violence. After Robinson left, there might have been something that made the officer think this was related to domestic violence. However by that time, Robinson had left. So, the officer, realizing he might have screwed up, and would have a hard time justifying in his report why he let someone go who might be a suspect, decided to ask the woman who he was. (IOW, he knew that the Sgt. or other supervisor who would review the report would ask him a basic question: Why wasn't the name of the male in the report?) So he thought he could cover his mistake by asking the woman who the man was. When she refused, he took it to another level, and compounded a mistake with a worse mistake.
You are 100% right. With the only addition that this cop is likely to kill someone one of these abuses.
“Janice Wells called the Richland Police Department ... for help”
There sure are a lot of these stories where women and old people call for help and then get assaulted by a group of cops. What is rare is when the cops have any punishment.
Eh, if you gave me some actual statistics with your ridiculous 75% number then maybe I'd respond. For instance, the NYPD has 35,000 uniformed members.
Show me that 75% of them are corrupt and I'll entertain your original post as something other than pure emotional drivel. This is FreeRepublic. We like facts.
"75% of all cops need fired. The other 25% probably should he as well."
You are too generous. 25% should be shot. Most of the rest should be in jail. There are a few good ones, but they do not last long.
Numbers? Spoken like a true statist. You work for the government. Don’t you? Or worse. Are you a cop? You seem far too intense for a subserviant bootlicker. Sniff. Sniff. Cop.
Well John law. Here is the stat. Cops have no constitutional authority. You get your very limited police powers from me. And my belief is we have too many of you. And if we made you get real jobs and off the government tit we’d save money and have better surity of our liberties.
County sherrifs, are the only lawful persons needed for enforcement. One. Per county. Ellected and accountable. He can deputize as needed but I am for ending the liberal welfare of a standing domestic army of government unionized cops.
Again. Seriously. No good cops. You are not one. You are a selfish, statist, holier than thou, smarter than us, not one of us, above the law, cover for your buddy, protect the system, know what’s good for us, facsist.
All cops are corrupt or they soon leave the business. No boy scouts any more. Government thugs. You are Obama.
This is a amazing story.
1. It is another story of leftism run amok. Because a man and a woman are there in the same house, a cop turn a report of a possible intruder into a domestic violence investigation.
2. One of the idiots fired apparently already has a job at the country sherrif’s office. Gee you might think someone who revealed himself bad at law enforcement might at least need to go out of the country to get a new job in law enforcement.
3. The Chief from one of the departments while shocked by the incident claimed that this was an otherwise perfect officer. Doesn’t the new evidence cause him any suspicion that that maybe there were other incidents?
And cops are shocked that the public lose more faith in them almost on a daily basis.
You are right. I was too generous. I do agree with you. I was just trying to start soft before taking off the gloves. I hate The American Gestapo.
Keep the faith.
"These police shouldn’t be allowed to breath any more air, much less work for the taxpayer..."
Those cops should have been "euthanized on site" or hung. They were and are animals, and one is now a sheriff. Reminds me of the last atrocity, when the brave cop tased the bedridden 87 year old in Oklahoma.
~”She called the police because there was a threat from someone. She stopped cooperating as soon as she realized that responding officers aren’t interested in anything she says - and in fact they already “figured out” what the crime ought to be and who did it. And then they basically arrested her for resisting arrest :-(” ~
Don’t you see her story doesn’t even pass the smell test? She tells the sheriff that she just wanted them to ask JOHN to leave. There was nothing about a damn prowler. She is lying about the prowler after the fact, so why does anyone jump to defend her?
Hilarious. All you have to do was click on my profile to see who I am. I hope your tinfoil hat doesn't mess up your hair. One Sheriff per county. You spelled Sheriff wrong, by the way. You seem to get caught up in emotion and it clouds your grammar and judgement.
I'd love to see one Sheriff in the county of Manhattan or Queens or Kings or the Bronx. Do us all a favor and stay in the sticks.
Are you drunk? What dies that even mean?
Do you mean that to articulate a position our founding fathers long held or to advocate our God given rights or to lament the violations of our liberties by a bureocratic unionized government run police state, one would have to inebriated by some beverage?
Your ad hominiem is a display of bootlicking at its finest.
Have another round on me. You could use it.
Tell us then what legal reason there was to arrest her. You can resist until someone tries to put you under arrest. What legal reason did he have to put here under arrest? For not telling him someone’s name? I bet that a charge of obstruction of justice legally requires an arrest warrrant.
