COSTCO delenda est. (deleo, delere, delevi, deletum)
That assumes “COSTCO” is feminine in gender.
COSTCO delendus est for masculine.
I *could* explain how ppl put “a”s where “e”s belong
but sometimes I’d be wrong and it would just add to
general confusion.

Among my less likely to be adopted musings is a “no
TV” rule for cops. (i.e. No “COPS” shows.) Consider
the Aiyana Jones case recently in Detroit. “Showtime”
it was, and she died. “No TV” meaning they must not
have watched any in years.

Lots of ppl don’t carry backup. I don’t like to leap
to conclusions but I’m agreeing with the “throw down”
theory on this 2nd gun.

The witness said he looked to reach for the gun to remove it”

Look, I feel sorry for this guy, it doesn’t seem like he was a criminal, but that was a dumb move.

**************

On another thread the witnesses heard various things. “Get down” from one cop and “Drop the gun” from another. Of course if the gun was in the holster, as the witnesses say, he would have to reach for the gun first.

Several Freeper’s commented that the thing to do in that case is to keep your hands in the air and tell the cops the gun is on you right hip and let them get it. And as an earlier freeper commented - sounds like this stuff needs to be practiced by those that carry. In all the confusion with three cops yelling different things, pointing guns at you, probably wondering if they are really talking to YOU (Me? What did I do wrong?) it would be easy to be confused on what to do in the stress of the moment.

LV Metro has a loooong LONG history of unwarranted police shootings that are unjustified , covered up and not prosecuted. All you have to do is a google search to see for yourself

evidently the LV Metro has been committing murder for years.

just about a month ago they shot an unarmed man in his moms house for selling pot, no struggle, no resisting they just shoot anyone who does not comply instantly to unclear demands , or does comply with demands as in this case or if a LV metro cop sees a gun or hears there is a gun they shoot on sight knowing they will be absolved of guilt

One more reason to avoid that POS city

How far is the beach from the burbs? As in miles or
what? Sounds like what in NYC would be different precincts.

LV metro may just shoot YOU someday because a casino employee falsly reports something about YOU , plant a gun, say you were on a rampage and throw YOU on gurney , done deal, throw YOU in the dumpster.....

NEXT victim please ! !

as the gangster Las vegas system has it all covered up by now. and the mayors brother will be the attorney for the family.

nothing to see here folks move along

I once witnessed a cop shout “drop the gun” at a doper with a gun in San Francisco. The cop started shooting about .1 second after he said that. 2 cops shielded by their cruiser proceeded to empty their clips into him at a range of about 30 yards. The guy had no chance to follow their commands even if he wanted to. A cop does not wait around waiting for a moving person to drop a gun. The only thing that could have saved Scott was putting his hands up and not moving. Anything else he could have done wouldn’t have saved him. These cops were primed to blast him.

"Cartago" was masculine, but the modifier "Delando" is NEUTER ~ neither male nor female. I think the meaning is "Dead is Dead" (if it's just kind of standing alone out there with nothing to modify).

The period of time we are talking about (Carthaginian wars) had the Romans thinking of place names as not having gender, and only later did they demand intense correspondence of the FORM of the noun and its MODIFIERS.

Best not to think back from modern Romantic languages to ancient Latin. A better referent would be to what the Celts and Germans were up to, then, once the Romans had totally conquered and absorbed the Greek empire, you would want to see what the Greeks were doing linguistically. No doubt when the Romans "went city" they spruced up their grammar! Back when they were still a melange of unassimilated country boys, they could have said just anything.

You won't see COSTCO's videos because there are people there (manager, clerks, etc.) who have a 5th amendment right against self-incrimination, and that'll have to be worked out in court first.

So far still seems like COSTCO's management team worked to have this man killed by the cops.

...how long should they wait to check & see whether there is no gun in it?

Maybe until they are reasonably certain there is an actual threat? That is the standard for deadly force in self defense and I believe it is universal to everyone, and in law there is no lower standard applying to police.

They accept a certain risk in taking that job and plenty of other jobs are more dangerous.

So far there has been quite a chorus of folks who claim to have been there and saw no threat, and based on my experience I have to say that's a very believable scenario. Of course "news" articles and anonymous posted comments are never the whole story and I don't believe what we have so far entitles us to judge either way. But I think some explaining needs to be done.

The guy was damaging/rampaging in the store and had an exposed gun, creating panic to the people around. Did he think he was OK to leave the store and nothing? The suspect had very little leeway of not following immediate instruction by the police. It was just yesterday that a person went inside a busines in New Mexico and shot several people. It is easy to monday morning quarterback the police.

Translation: "It's OK to execute a West Point graduate if a liberal anti-gun weasel gets their undies in a bunch about the West Point graduate carrying a concealed weapon."

"They ordered him to the ground," Neville said of the officers on Saturday. "He does not comply with that order. He reaches for the weapon, pulls the weapon out, at which time, the weapon was out of the waistband."

Yes - pulls the weapon out of his waistband, except for the part where it was in a zippered holster:

The man said he saw Scott reach with his right hand and pull out what appeared to be a gun in a zippered holster. He recognized the holster, he said, because he has one like it. Officers then fired, and the man saw the gun fall out of Scott's hand. The witness did not see Scott point the gun at officers.
