Amnesty: It Is Not Too Late To Step Away From The Abyss (Koch defends Arizona)
JWR ^ | 7/13/2010 | Ed Koch

Posted on 07/13/2010 8:34:30 AM PDT by HearMe

The Obama administration knows that the American public is against the reforms that President Obama is proposing as they were against them when President George W. Bush proposed them, and the American public defeated two efforts by the Bush administration and Congress to implement those so-called reforms. Why is President Obama losing political popularity, and why is the Congress held in such low regard? The contempt of the public on this issue towards the efforts of both the President and the Congress to impose their will on an unwilling public has added strength to the coming November debacle for the Democratic Party. The Times of July 12th reports, "In a private meeting with White House officials this weekend, Democratic governors voiced deep anxiety about the Obama administration's suit against Arizona's new immigration law, worrying that it could cost a vulnerable Democratic Party in the fall elections."

President Obama, please rethink your policy toward the Arizona law and all issues related to illegal immigration. It is not too late to step away from the abyss.

Koch may be the only politician in America whose views can not be predicted by label.

A gypsy woman on a bridge said something similar to Hitler.

Just before he invaded Czechoslovakia.

I believe that Pat Caddell can be put in that catagory too.

Koch’s concern is retaining electability of the Democrats, NOT as he says the “contempt of the public”.

I find that misplaced as it’s the “contempt of the public” by these so-called “Representatives” that has my outrage.

These people over 70 who remain in the dem party out of lifelong habit disgust me. They continually give power to the likes of Obama & Pelosi because they’re stuck in a 1930s mindset.

The democrat party has CHANGED, Mr Koch. None of their icons of 50 years ago would be seen dead with them now.

I really wonder if there is any Democrat today who would ever make a statement like the following:

“Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty.

Five to one she ended up in a crematorium.

I could see a democrat saying that. In a Clinton-kind of way, biting the lower lip, all politics, all for the cameras.

What's to wonder at? They're old Reds. They were SDS and SNCC and CORE and CPUSA back then -- and they're stuck on stupid. Or hateful.

Koch is a liberal Democrat in the older mold of people like JFK and Daniel Patrick Moynihan. It is almost generational, in that Democrat politicians born in 1940 or later are stark, raving Marxists.

"The President glosses over the fact that if we are not able to police our borders, as soon as the current 11 million illegals are given amnesty, a new crop of illegals will be walking across our borders. Is the President saying that once the 11 million are given amnesty, we will find a way to stop a new wave of illegals? If so, why not find and impose that way now?"

A question ALL candidates should be asked!

Thanks for posting this, it's a good one. NAFBPO forwarded it to me this morning. See their M3 foreign news reports, for the REAL news south of the border.

Democrats plan is to make every crop of Mexican immigrants voting citizens silly.

Given that Republicans including SP claim they want to register illegals (I think she really means register them to get free Obama-care,but that is NOT the same as amnesty, she is AGAINST that) after we secure the borders maybe we are better off not securing our borders to give amnesty Republicans a excuse to oppose giving them Obama-care and other handouts.

JFK’s soaring rhetoric wasn’t necessarily wise. It was the classic call for liberal internationalism and paved the way for his ill considered escalation in Vietnam. He should have listened to Eisenhower and avoided a land war in Asia. Idealism is a dangerous guide when deciding to go to war.

Right, and her pal McCain also claims to be against “amnesty”, as did Bush II when he was trying to ram it through. When I hear Palin call for deporting the illegals now here then I’ll be impressed. Until then she’s just another double talking politician who is unwilling to enforce the law.
