In addition to surrounding traffic, it seems that a stiff breeze might also pose a danger while on that thing.

One of the primary reasons I agreed to my wife's desire to move to the Piaggio BV500 was the 16 inch wheels (front and back). The Vespa LX150 has 12 inch wheels. That's just small enough to drop into a common pothole in the street and put you on your face. No thanks. The bigger diameter wheel is more likely to span the hole.
