Reid: GOP Rooting for Economy to Fail
The Hill ^ | 7/14/2010 | Eric Zimmerman

Posted on 07/14/2010 4:00:11 PM PDT by Qbert

Republicans hope unemployment rates jump higher to give them a better shot at retaking Congress, Majority Leader Harry Reid said Wednesday.

At a press conference announcing a package of proposals to help small business, the Nevada Democrat said Republicans were obstructing legislation to help the economy for political reasons.

“They think the worse the economy is come November, the better they’re going to do election-wise,” Reid said.

Reid cited an extension of unemployment benefits as an example of legislation that would help the economy but was being blocked by Republicans.

Sure Harry. I want my investments and future to go the way of Pan Am airlines just to spite your pathetic self. Most of you in the political class are pitiful creatures with limited talents to good things, and even less understanding of the world most of us live in; but, most of you seem to have an enormous ego to go along with your incompetence. Having said that, wasn't it you and those who loyally vote for you who were rooting for a US loss in Iraq?

Despicable is way too nice a word for Mr. Reid.

Actually, I’d bet that it’s the Democrats who are secretly hoping for the economy to (continue to) fail. That would mean we need more government programs, more restrictive nanny state laws, more state interference in the economy, more nationalization, QE2...

Hey Dingy Harry - if you are going to blame the Republicans for your failures at least let them have your office and all the chairmanships of all the committees!

Harry Reid is a turd and a liar. I want to see Americans in the same boat they were a few years ago where if you were a decent person would only take a week or two to find a good job if not a shorter period of time. You know like it was back when the republicans were deciding tax rates and stuff like that. You know the bad old Bush years where unemployment was under 6% and gasoline was $1.59 a gallon like it was in Jan ‘07 when the dems took over Congress.

Every election cycle that I can remember, the Democratic mantra has been that the incumbent Republican has made the economy “the worst since Herbert Hoover”. Now that the economy REALLY is the worst since Hoover, and it’s the Democrats’ fault, it’s suddenly illegitimate to point it out.

Liberalism is worse than the plague.

“some of whom are actually dead. (Read up on Lake County, Indiana.)”

Yeah, I used to work in Lake County. A real democrat run puke pit where dead people vote, vote again...you know what I’m saying. It’s an extension of Chicago with corrupt democrats running the place.

Liar. Democrats are to blame for every bit of it. They're in power, remember?

The Republicans are crazy for wanting to ‘catch the falling safe’ the Dems have waiting for them.

To a degree Harry Reid is certainly correct.

What we are talking about here is reactionary politics. The voters themselves have become reactionary, that is no longer commit to the long term wisdom of free enterprise and individual responsibility but rather just "react" to whatever the media says or current conditions are.

That is exactly why the proportion of true conservatives on, say FR, or in the Tea Party, are not simply Republican sycophants either. Or why there exists the exposure of "RINO's."

For the long term, for our children, for the future of this nation (not Mexico), the understanding of individual responsibility, discipline, courage to be honest with one's self, is the only hope for the individual dignity and the consciousness of determining one's own fate, for which this nation was originally founded.

Democrats for sure, are just the LEFT, truly despicable self aggrandizing scum, ala Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, etc. But "Republicans, a "political party" just the same, are not far behind, ala Lindsey Graham, Olympia Snowe, John McCain, etc.

I will repeat, the federal government in Washington DC is the most corrupted in my lifetime. They have NO idea of the dignity of Freedom. These people are truly sick with power; and that is not saying it would not happen to you or I also given the position.

Thus the Tea Party.

Johnny Suntrade

(PS. Incidentally it is the lawyers, the legal cabal, which is driving it all.)

My thoughts exactly. And since Harry has no idea how they broke it - but break it they did - he sure doesn’t know how to fix it.

Too bad we can’t require a current events test for voting.

Too bad we here in Lake County can’t require a current HEARTBEAT test for voting.

Gee, how about from 2004 through 2006 the constant barrage of the Dems saying it was the worst economy in 50 years. They said it multiple times. Well they got what they were complaining about. I think the GOP has shown remarkable restraint in not talking down the economy. They are, however, harping about worthless stimulus and the debt.

The really, really, really, need to bring back dueling.

It was the one thing that kept scumbags like this in check.

Is this the same Harry Reid who said the President of the United States was a “loser”? The same Harry Reid who declared “this war is lost.”? That Harry Reid?

He apparently sees the world as a mirror, with everyone having the same pettiness that he likely harbored in the last election cycle.

Harry you are as full of crap as a young Robin. Your Cronies Dodd and Frank who started this entire mess are in your camp. They are the ones that browbeat the Banks to make loans that they knew could never be recovered. Your remarks Harry as just about as dumb and your last remark that there were no illegal’s working on construction in Nevada. You are so out of touch with reality that you could not even imagine how stupid your remarks really are.I am really supprised you know which day it is.
