On the road leading to Dulles Airport outside Washington, DC there's a 10' x 11' road sign touting a runway improvement project funded by the federal stimulus. The project cost nearly $15 million and has created 17 jobs, according to recovery.gov.
However, there's another number that caught the eye of ABC News: $10,000. That's how much money the Washington Airports Authority tells ABC News it spent to make and install the sign a single sign announcing that the project is "Funded by The American Reinvestment and Recovery Act" and is "Putting America Back to Work." The money for the sign was taken out of the budget for the runway improvement project.

Your tax dollars at work!!
Shovel ready $$$$$$$
Pray for Freedom
I am in the wrong business.
I’ve seen two of those Communist signs, one near a dump outside of Tucson — no movement there in the months I’ve been driving by it. The other was at Big Bend National Park, they put in some boardwalk that volunteers could have built, a few hundred feet of boards, so people wouldn’t have to walk on the sand. When I think that I’m slaving to pay for this &#*(&#(*&#*(&, my face starts to boil.
Only a suggestion, but with the passage of every single bill that involves federal money....I think we should require signs to be promptly put up to note the project.
Naturally, I would disclaim that I own any sign stock in this endeavor. This might help to put a bunch of unemployed sign guys back to work though....just my humble thoughts.
Bump.
argggggggggggggggggggggggg
They’re going to regret it.
Those signs are going to get creatively altered all across the country. LOL
Fools.
$15 million for 17 jobs that probably weren’t really created, just “transferred.”
A few weeks ago, we went to a park that has been open for years(maybe decades), and one of those damn signs were planted at the entrance. As far as I could tell, not one bit of work had been done there.
I wonder who has the contract to make the signs? A big Dim contributor?
That’s the way they do it Chicago, the hometown of Barry, Rahm, Axelrod, Jarrett, etc.
That’s just like the dump or sewer plant or whatever it is outside of Tucson. It’s a big open pit, smells same as always and like it has for the 20 years I’ve lived here, and doesn’t look like any earth is moving.
We are sooo in some bizarro world, and LESS accountability than EVER with the feds.
Why do we need these signs? Totally unnecessary! Just fix things, quietly and quickly. But no, Obama just has to push this crap in our faces. Just like a child.
This was pure union graft and corruption. Likely hiding $$ in someone’s freezer.
Putting up the sign was the work that was done. That’ll be 10 grand, please.
FAQ from the Federal Transportation Authority that is for recipients of the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act funds:
‘’Are FTA grantees required to display any special signs or logos to identify ARRA funded projects?
‘’Yes.... The grant agreement for each FTA ARRA grant includes a special condition as follows: Emblems: The Recipient agrees to use signs and materials that display both the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) emblem and the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) program emblem to identify its project(s) financed with Recovery Act funds that are provided by U.S. DOT in a manner consistent with Federal guidance, and to include this provision in any subagreements, leases, third party contracts, or other similar documents used in connection with its Recovery Act Project(s).’’
The Stimulus reportedly includes sign requirements that require Funded By: American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Barack Obama, President or the Recovery Act logo that resembles the Obama 2008 campaign logo and purports to be a symbol of President Obamas commitment to the American people to invest their tax dollars wisely and put Americans back to work.
Ditto that — there are a bunch of these stupid signs along San Antonio Road between Palo Alto and Mountain View, CA. The project was stalled for almost a year. Big “HURRAY for the Government” sign, but no action. Makes my blood boil every time I see the damn thing. I have dreams of blowing them up with a little Semtex.
Otherwise known as the "Obastika."
Obama: These emblems are symbols of our commitment to you, the American people — a commitment to investing your tax dollars wisely, to put Americans to work doing the work that needs to be done. So when you see them on projects that your tax dollars made possible, let it be a reminder that our government — your government — is doing its part to put the economy back on the road of recovery.

I am Porculus!
Recession - Your neighbor loses their job.
Depression - You lose your job.
Recovery - Barack HUSSEIN Obama loses HIS job.
Damn good Ronaldus Magnus reset there!
There’s a road/drainage improvement project along a road that I use frequently.
I was looking forward to having that section repaired as the pavement was awful and the road flooded with every heavy rain.
One day, I noticed that a couple of those signs went up.
Ever since, work seems to have stopped on that project, and the road surface is worse than when they started.
Thank you, King Baraq.
That was my first thought, were they really new jobs or were these 17 guys already working?
LOL! They probably purposely put them on cliffs or in precarious locations where we can't drive into them (with our gas guzzlers, hahha).
One wonders why there is no follow-up on these projects or anything from the state-run media.
and America takes another one in the........
