LOS ANGELES—California health officials are reaching out to minority communities about the statewide whooping cough epidemic that has claimed the lives of five Latino babies.

The California Department of Public Health is teaming with New America Media, an ethnic media collaborative, to raise awareness through foreign language media about vaccinations for parents, caregivers and children.

The highly contagious disease has been found in 1,337 Californians of all backgrounds as of June 30, and new parents are being asked to get vaccinated to prevent spreading it to vulnerable newborns.

Another gift from our do-nothing gutless pos in the White House. Obama needs to be impeached and tried for treason.

You don't KNOW that...

What if it's a special new type of Whooping cough that's transmitted via bed bugs?

They are trying awfully hard to conceal the fact that this outbreak is NOT the result of native-born Amish Americans flocking to California.

Isn’t it 70-80% of the California cases are mexicans?

Bush didn’t do much, either. Actually, what president has seriously tried to stop illegal immigration?

I could never understand why Bush didn't support deportation and strong enforcement of our immigration laws.

Illegal aliens, spreading the formerly rare diseases Americans won’t spread (until enough have been infected).

Actually TB has been on the rise for some years now as well. My relatives were detained for a time in Ellis Island to show that they weren’t infected with a disease that could cause a pandemic/epidemic. If whooping cough or any other disease becomes rampant you will never hear one word as to what group is spreading it. just a thought

Totally true, and it's been that way for a few years as TB shows up at various places in the US. Also, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is currently running ads about stamping out polio, as if it is still a threat to children. The ads are sort of non-specific as to what part of the world they are referring to, but it almost sounds like the are including the US.

But polio was considered defeated years ago, thirty or forty years ago.

You get the “bingo!” award for this thread thus far! My hubby was so sick a few years ago he actually went to the doctor (almost unheard of) and called it the “bosnian crud”. She winked and told him he wasn’t far off on that.
