Was that before or after his song:

“Back in the USSR. You don’t know how lucky you are.” ??

I didn’t view the link because the beatles sucked. Right up there with Micheal Jackson. I am entitled to my opinion since you posted this thread.

I always figured that was sarcasm. I mean if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao, you ain’t going to make it with anyone anyhow.

My husband says, “The Beatles: Two down and two to go.”

Also, more knew Mao was a front for the crown over there than here, so I vote sarcasm , too.

Presidential hero worship--and not only that but celebrity hero worship!

What is it that makes millions of people endow politicians (of all people!) and celebrities in general with absurd and undeserved admiration, "heroism", authority, and power???

I suppose they feel a need to project onto other people qualities that are simply not there.

But it's scary to think how many dumb people there are out there running around loose.

I’d say sarcasm. Didn’t Paul write that one? Always hated Paul

John has a point, though it’s sad it isn’t more coherent.

Instant karma’s gonna get you

That song was a tongue in cheek—supposed to be a take off on the Beach Boys’ hits.

To all:

Then try these Lennon lyrics:

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

****************

Just curious. Did he write these lyrics in the back of his purple Rolls Royce limousine?

Sells better than reality.

I'm surprised to hear these words from Lennon. But you can't ever trust these dead white men, can you?

Even if thats what he really thought when he was alive, now that he's dead he's a dim voter for sure.
