Justice Loses Its Stars and Stripes
American Spectator ^ | 16 july 2010

Posted on 07/16/2010 4:15:42 AM PDT by rellimpank

What's black and white and "red" all over? The Department of Justice's newly designed website. Gone are the standard red, white, and blue motifs, replaced by an all-black backdrop. And prominently placed on virtually every page of the site is a quote credited to a man who facilitated a greater role for socialists and communists at the U.N., and the global "workers rights movement."

The redesigned website was launched without fanfare, but was noticed internally by several career lawyers, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of political reprisals. "We were told that the media team and the senior leadership that signed off on the design thought that the patriotic shtick from the Ashcroft days was a bit much for an agency that isn't supposed to be political," says a DOJ lawyer, who inquired about the redesign. "It was a real effort not to laugh at that."

Prominent now on the site are links to "Justice.gov en Español" and the "The Recovery Act and the Department of Justice." But most jarring is the quote that is appears on virtually every page of the website. "The common law is the will of mankind issuing from the life of the people," which, some DOJ staff say, is tied to a man who ushered in the socialist and communist theories that now permeate the United Nations.

Another DOJ lawyer says, "It's taken from an inscription along one of the outer walls of the department ["The common law derives from the will of mankind, issuing from the life of the people, framed by mutual confidence, and sanctioned by the light of reason"], but no one is sure where the quote came from."

no one is sure where the quote came from...Some attorneys believed the quote is pulled or adapted from the writing of Sir William Blackstone...But other Department of Justice employees say the quote originates from British lawyer, C. Wilfred Jenks, who back in the late 1930s and after World War II was a leading figure in the "international law" movement, which sought to impose a global, common law, and advocated for global workers rights

The thing is, there is really nothing to back up this assertion. I'm surprised that The Spectator published a whole article on so slim a premise, with no solid attribution of the quote to Wilfred Jenks.

“The good news is the garbage goes out as fast as it floated in.”

I wish that were the case. Truth is, the commie bastards sabotage everything constantly when they are “out of power”, and rush through every liberal / communist wet dream when they are in charge. You can’t name one socialist policy that has really ever been rolled back.
Sadly, it’s the American people that are to blame and no one else. We have a permanent voting block of lazy, ignorant and corrupt leaches that will always vote for whomever promises them the most goodies. Why shouldn’t they? They get a free ride.

"The common law is the will of mankind issuing from the life of the people,"

In other words, we can do whatever the f*** we want...

Since I Won obviously represents the will of the people (He Won, after all), then his words must be law.

The DOJ under Obama seems to have two main purposes: to advance the notion that counterterrorism is primarily a law-enforcement rather than a military effort, and to be an instrument of social justice when it comes to race and ethnicity.

Here's the DOJ's statement on counterterrorism:

The Obama administration is committed to using every instrument of national power to fight terrorism – including intelligence and military operations as well as the criminal justice system. As a counter-terrorism tool, the criminal justice system has proven incredibly effective in both incapacitating terrorists and gathering valuable intelligence from and about terrorists. In every instance, the administration will use the tool that is most effective for fighting terrorism, and will make those decisions based on pragmatism, not ideology.

Secession is the only way left to preserve liberty. There is no controlling of the behemoth that is the Regime- all of the DC mob including career employees in every department, lobbyists, aids, lawyers, and layers of regulators. Our founders would have physically thrown out these rascals. And, they would have required a birth certificate.

What an ugly, ominous website. Justice, eh?

Approaching doom is more like it.

At one time they did. But that was then and this is now.

On the fourth day of November 2008, a majority of voters in America voted to commit National suicide. The Nation first, and unknown to them at that point in time, then them.

Nothing new,it is just how dictators and tyrants have operated through the centeries, get enough fools to put you in power by promising to steal from those who earn and give o those that haven’t [them]then after consolidating their power, they eliminate those who put them in power.

The Democrat Party in 2010 eliminated the elderly as one segament of their voting base by enacting and passing obama care. The federally funded abortion[free to them] provision will eventually eliminate the Blacks just as the pro “choice” laws eliminated their White voting Base segament. Illegals are slated to replace both segaments in the future. The new “reform” laws are designed to give the unions the impression that they will be gaining a lot of power. Foe a while they will. But, as the economy[means of production] is destroyed, it will take the unions with it. No jobs= no money. No money= no taxes, no union jobs, no governmental jobs. This will not happen overnight. It will take a few years to implement, but, the foundation is being laid at this point in time.

It’s your basic black, gold and white motif. The initial board shows a shield with a blue field at the top and red and white stripes below ~ almost the same as “THE UNION PACIFIC RAIL SYSTEM” (see: http://www.uprr.com/aboutup/history/graphics/uplogo/osow15.gif ) ~ presaging, one would suppose, another government takeover!

From this link, which looks like Scotland's version of the Congressional Record...

Scottish Parliament Wednesday 2 September 2009 [THE PRESIDING OFFICER opened the meeting at 09:30]

Kenny MacAskill:

No, it was not the case that it was automatically ruled out. It was possible for it to be homologated and for the appeal to be dropped. As Mr Baker is now aware, a note was lodged by the Libyan Government that indicated that it would be prepared to drop matters. Indeed, I received representations from Mr al-Megrahi's lawyers that their interpretation of how the situation could be dealt with was different. However, our view was that the application was properly submitted. The criteria would have to be met, but I was duty bound to consider the application.

I received numerous letters and representations, and I recognised that a decision on transfer would be of personal significance to those whose lives had been affected. On 27 May, I received advice from my officials that proposed a process that would allow representations to be taken into consideration in a fair and appropriate fashion. Accordingly, I met groups and individuals with a relevant interest.

I spoke to the United States Attorney General, Eric Holder, on 26 June. On 1 July, I met the families of victims from the United Kingdom; on 6 July, I met a lady from Spain whose sister was a member of the cabin crew; and on 9 July, I held a videoconference with families from the United States. In addition, on 23 July, I spoke with a family whose relatives died in Lockerbie. With the agreement of the families, I have published the notes of those meetings.

Congress probably can't get its mitts on MacAskill, but Holder's not a problem, is he...?

Reason I posted the above on this particular thread: Same DOJ.
