And yet many of them are empty.
It’s okay to kill a ginger....
IIRC, in 1996 the military was eager to reduce in size. I stayed in, but there were times in the 90s where you could be excused from anything if you wanted to leave.
Cameras were expensive.
They are available for well below a hundred bucks now - small change to a big box store.
Yes, if the army is doing a major force reduction then pretty much everyone if offered an early out.
He was 38 years old !!!! With the typical USMA grad at 21-22 years old, add 5 years, and he’d have fulfilled that obligation a decade ago.
silverleaf, how about reading the article to get some minimal information before commenting about his being “off” and other negative conjecture?
“Cameras were expensive”
Its not just the camera, its the stuff behind it including people.
“They are available for well below a hundred bucks now - small change to a big box store.”
So the stores that cut pennies everywhere else are gonna suddenly be willing to spend bucks here. Right.
were you a graduate of the USMA?
His current age is irrelevant to my questions about his background
I also did not suggest the cops were blameless, only that they were confronting someone who might not have been the stereotypical US military academy grad, someone who “may” have had emotional or authority issues in his past that contributed to his misjudgement
Given the investment the US makes in military academy grads, and the incurred service obligation, the fact that he was released from service after 2 years (no Reserve, Nat Guard, enlisted, or any other obligation), sent up a red flag - thass all I’m sayin
Yeah, the military does RIFs’ but academy grads, the last to go, and then they often go into the Reserves
The facts may - or may not - come out.
Anyway, you reminded me of the post Vietnam RIF ['73 or '74] when, for the first time, USMA grads were included in the RIF. If memory serves, the list contained 426 03's.
the RIF of 74 after the end of the Vietnam War- was the mother of all RIF’s- I survived that one!
But if they released West Point grads with no or very little service time, did they excuse from enlisted duty the poor suckers who had dropped out? I don’t remember RIF policies regarding the ring knockers. I “suspect” they release academy grads from their obligations only if they were within a year or 2 of getting out anyway or had other issues
No, I was USAF & a 90 day wonder. However, academy grads were getting waivers - ANYTHING to reduce the size of the military. If/when there were not enough volunteers, then they had RIFs to force people out.
I knew guys who were Academy grads with flight training (normally a 10 year commitment at the time) who got waivers to leave ASAP.
“Yeah, the military does RIFs but academy grads, the last to go...”
Nope. Not true. Academy grads were as free to go as anyone else.
COSTCO sells security cameras. It's like like it's big bucks to them.
How much do you think shoplifting costs, Brainic?
>> I take it the video hasnt been released yet.
I’m also waiting for more info about this event.
You and me both.
It’s been a week now.
Are they waiting for Orson Wells to finish the narration?
Hah!
Yep, I keep checking back periodically for any updates. We know they have some videos. What was on them? Smells like we're in the midst of a cover-up, while the State works on their story (I see the latest line - as I read the posts on this thread - is that the victim had 'an unstable life').
You’re right, you know everything.
One probably shouldn’t scream it.
