Report: Carpenters Union Pays Minimum Wage to Hire Protestors

The Mid-Atlantic Regional Council of Carpenters is paying unemployed non-union workers to protest outside Washington, D.C., office buildings, telling the Wall Street Journal that it's sometimes too difficult to get its own people to come downtown to demonstrate.

WSJ reports that the carpenters union has been hiring people -- many of whom have no ideology on an issue -- to to walk picket lines, chant and generally sound off each day at around 150 picket lines in the District of Columbia and Baltimore.

"For a lot of our members, it's really difficult to have them come out, either because of parking or something else," Vincente Garcia, a union representative supervising the picketing, told the newspaper.

Yes this protest will be verrrry effective. If you have to HIRE protestors because your own guys won’t show up and protest, I don’t think you’re going to genuinely convince anyone of your position.

And for minimum wage, no less! What tyrants. Maybe some Freepers need to go out and protest the carpenter’s union for paying minimum wage and hiring non-union folks.

I wonder if it's easier for non-union folks to park?

Finally a reason to raise the minumum wage. To hurt the unions protest ironically.

Shouldnt they pay a Living Wage?

Is Fox just noticing this? It’s been going on for years. The picketers have a giant rat that they keep in the back of a pickup. I’ve been tempted to offer $25 to anyone who can tell me what a countersink is. It’s very obvious they’re not carpenters.

How about a large group shows up with picket signs,

“Carpenters Union UNFAIR!”

“Union Hires Non-union Protesters!”

“International Union of Picketers Protests!”

You can tell union members are really psyched when they won’t even come to their own protest.

From the "article"...

But the union and other liberal groups aren't the only organizations soliciting "activists," the paper reported.

In Bellevue, Wash., the Faith and Freedom Network is set to pay $10 an hour to recruits to knock on doors and promote statewide candidates with Judeo-Christian values for the fall elections.

Hiring people to do door to door canvassing is not the same as hiring protestors.

Who wrote this crap? Just had to get a dig on the " Judeo-Christian values" I suppose.
