don’t sweat it. I’m not moving back, but I’m not holding my breath waiting for family members to visit me here in the wilds of Oklahoma. It’s not like I live in Las Vegas, anymore.

I do understand the mountains and beaches are still nice, when you can see them.

Don't bother....Those willing to give up the best to settle for less are not real attractive... Cowards that run are not real desirable. Those that run, will run again....

Sounds like my wife's sister, who stayed in the same jerkwater town all her life and never amounted to anything - "Well, SOMEBODY had to take care of Mom and Dad". (No, they didn't.)

I bailed in '88 and still have to listen to family members who stayed, constantly complain about the latest screwing.

I left in 1973 because it was already turning into a not-good place to live.

You ran away to Oklahoma...

People that give up the best and settle for less deserve less...People like you will run again.

Fear drives many illegal immigrants from Mexico to Oklahoma

Mexican nationals appear to be entering Oklahoma illegally as steadily as ever

We already have a law like Arizona's law...

834b. (a) Every law enforcement agency in California shall fully
cooperate with the United States Immigration and Naturalization
Service regarding any person who is arrested if he or she is
suspected of being present in the United States in violation of
federal immigration laws.
   (b) With respect to any such person who is arrested, and suspected
of being present in the United States in violation of federal
immigration laws, every law enforcement agency shall do the
following:
   (1) Attempt to verify the legal status of such person as a citizen
of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted as a permanent
resident, an alien lawfully admitted for a temporary period of time
or as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of
immigration laws. The verification process may include, but shall not
be limited to, questioning the person regarding his or her date and
place of birth, and entry into the United States, and demanding
documentation to indicate his or her legal status.
   (2) Notify the person of his or her apparent status as an alien
who is present in the United States in violation of federal
immigration laws and inform him or her that, apart from any criminal
justice proceedings, he or she must either obtain legal status or
leave the United States.
   (3) Notify the Attorney General of California and the United
States Immigration and Naturalization Service of the apparent illegal
status and provide any additional information that may be requested
by any other public entity.
   (c) Any legislative, administrative, or other action by a city,
county, or other legally authorized local governmental entity with
jurisdictional boundaries, or by a law enforcement agency, to prevent
or limit the cooperation required by subdivision (a) is expressly
prohibited.

And a friend of mine that moved to the Phoenix area said it was the worst move he ever made...He tells me if you like living like a lizard, in heat that is uninhabitable for humans, you'll love it. He says his view resembles a nuclear test site....lol

The heat in Arizona isn't a temperature, it's a oven setting..

Enjoy!

No, I “ran away” to the Air Force. 24 years later, I found myself in Oklahoma, at the end of my career. The California I grew up in wasn’t there anymore. The last house I lived in there, before enlisting, had the rent raised to $1000 per month in, IIRC, 1985 or so. That is when my mom moved to Hemet, where rents were cheaper, and she could afford to live.

You may now pull your foot out of your mouth, and go crawl back under your rock.

Yeah, I hear the "But it's' a DRY heat!" routine all the time (118 today). I tell 'em basically the same thing - "You COOK with dry heat."

However, you don't have to shovel sunshine.

THOSE DUMBASSES! California already has one!

Thank you. I was just about to post that section of California law.

So much for research by the media. Had they bothered to check, they could have found this just as easily as you and I did.

“Don’t get mad at me because Oklahoma and most other states are being over run with with illegals.”

I'm not mad at you at all. I do wonder how you seem to have missed that California is overrun with illegal aliens, though. I wouldn't doubt that you have more illegals in SoCal then we have total population in the State of Oklahoma.

I also wonder how old you are? Do you remember when you could go hunting mountain lion in LA county? And catch one? When, outside of LA, proper, most folks didn't bother to lock their doors? When people weren't jammed in there cheek-to-cheek?
I've looked at some of the places I used to live on Google Earth. One house had hundred-year-old Jade plants outside the front door. That lot now has five houses on it, and no sign of those jade plants. Down the street from there, where another house I lived in used to be, there is a large industrial building and a huge paved parking lot. I'm afraid the man was right. You can't go home anymore, because home isn't there any more.

Not to mention the absolutely STUPID gun control laws you now have.
