Sometimes, the Criminals Come to the Police Dogs (Funny but True Story)

Sometimes the good guys win without a lot of trouble or effort on their part.  Consider this story out of Fife Washington. A little over a week ago on July 8th, a couple of criminals were loading cocaine into their vehicle, while unknown to them they were being watched by local police.  When the police had enough to bust the dealers, they began approaching the vehicle.  Unfortunately the police were not as stealthy as they should have been because the drug dealers were able to take off in their vehicle.

With the cops in hot pursuit the drug dealers took a turn down a dead end street where it seemed like the police were going to get them.  Instead, the drug dealers abandoned their vehicle and took off across a Junior High School yard to get away from the police.  It wasn't long however before the druggies were faced with 15 policemen and their K-9 dogs doing training doing drills on the school grounds at the end of the dead end road. That is when their criminal career ended, because the idea of outrunning 15 K-9's did not seem like a logical move for them.

Among the drilling K-9s were drug sniffing dogs from the DEA.  So the next thing that happened was the drug-sniffing dogs became alerted to the presence of narcotics at the vehicle.  Later with a warrant inn hand the drugs were confiscated and the druggies locked up.

My step-brother had a similiar situation happen to him. He was using a public restroom at a beach when a police officer and his canine came in and the dog hit on the marijuana he had on him. The officer confiscated the pot (poured out the little bit into the wind) and let him go, not without a lot of laughing about it. Even the officer thought it was bad luck and just didn’t feel giving him a citation was the answer.

I think it is God telling those who are doing something stupid to figure it out before thing get worse for you dude.

My wife likens it to walking down the street and all of a sudden God flicks his finger at your forehead and knocks you on your ass to wake you up before hell fire gets you.

Laughing at the story, or the kitty walking in front of all the K-9’s standing at attention in the photo?

Or both?

Picture of them please?

This my dog Hershee and I, when we were fishing a few years ago. She is now 14. She is an Australian Shepherd. We called her "Hershee", not because she has chocolate coloring, but as apposed to him he. I kept calling her a he when she was a puppy.

You must haver a very large runnin area. I have an acre, so when the good Lord calls Hershee home to roam, my wife and I are getting two German Shepherds. Hershee has had a few strokes already and is not completely with us at times already. Not looking forward to the day I may have to take her on that one way journey to the vet.

Nope. We have a regular city backyard, with a (stupid) pool in the middle of it. They DO, however, have many tennis balls and I have a good arm. ;)

I take them walking, to school playgrounds after hours to play ball...they’re doing just fine.

I’m SO sorry to hear that yours is getting on up there. There is probably nothing harder than having to say goodbye. I don’t envy you. Four years ago this month we did that with my first GSD. I turned right around and got a puppy. NOT to replace the first but to fill that void in my heart.

As God would have it, I found the breeder right before I had to put my dog down, and one of hers was just pregnant. I had 6 weeks to mourn one and look forward to the new baby. I haven’t regretted it for one second. :)

I agree. I will be looking shortly after we loose her, but my wife may be even more difficult to comfort. Being a paraplegic, Hershee and her have been attached at the hip since we got her because my wife is always home.

I may have to just bring the new dogs home as puppy’s and not tell her ahead of time. I pray I have awhile yet to think about it, but everyday I see her shake with small tremors as if she has Parkinson’s and I am reminded about the short time we have together.

Have a good evening, time for bed. I’m an early riser these days and an early bedtime guy.

God bless you.

OV

I am so sorry that Hershee is having a some health problems. It is so hard to lose a pet.

Not a lot of running area. LOL Mine are shilohs, panda and white gsds. But they get their exercise in and so do I. LOL

Thanks so much. The one thing I have always been impressed with the GSD is when commanded; they don’t hesitate. They do it. That as the officer said is good.

And they love to lick your feet or just about any other body part. LOL

I would also recommend to anyone that is not a trainer or has had years of experience with handling dogs not to get one that could be used for the police as they are usually what they call high prey and would not be the best for the everyday dog owner. These dogs have a different job than the normal everyday dog. It is their business to do police work.

My nephew has a bomb sniffing dog (Air Force) that lives with him, his wife and two small children. He is a wonderful patient dog who plays with the kids without showing aggression. Is there a difference in their training that makes a drug sniffing dog police dog more hostile than a military dog?

Sorry me and my big fat mouth making a blanket statement like that. Nothing is black and white. I am only going by the little I know about dog temperaments through litter evaluation tests I have seen. There is nothing wrong with a high prey dog at all. Their high prey usually makes them excellent for police work. A lot of police dogs make wonderful family pets.

And thanks for grounding me. LOL
