Morning Joe Libs Sweep Sherrod, Voter Intimidation Under Carpet: Let’s Not ‘Scratch A Sore’
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

It's pretty hard—even for media liberals—to defend a guy in paramilitary duds swinging a billy club outside a polling site, or a government official bragging about having declined to do everything in her power to help someone because of the white color of his skin.

So on today's Morning Joe, Margaret Carlson, Norah O'Donnell and Mike Barnicle were obliged to engage in a modicum of hand-wringing over the incidents. But once having discharged that duty, the trio set about doing what libs do best: finding ways to minimize the matters and excuse the MSM's failure to cover them.

To be sure, Carlson did call the statement by the USDA official "hateful" and said one should be "ashamed." And Norah O'Donnell and Mike Barnicle agreed with Joe Scarborough that the MSM can fairly be criticized for undercovering these stories.

But then the three started their excuse-a-thon:

Why would anyone take seriously what Margaret Carlson, Norah O'Donnell and Mike Barnicle think about this subject or anything for that matter?

They are irrelevant!

Where is Joe Farmer? He has to know she’s talking about HIM.

Considering this (the USDA related snippet) happened 24 years ago, looks like a case of “digging into the past”.

Not that I support the USDA (Uncle Sam Destroying Agriculture), but people can and do change.

http://www.ajc.com/news/resigned-usda-official-says-574027.html

“But Tuesday morning, Sherrod said what online viewers weren’t told in reports posted throughout the day Monday was that the tale she told at the banquet happened 24 years ago — before she got the USDA job — when she worked with the Georgia field office for the Federation of Southern Cooperative/Land Assistance Fund.

Sherrod said the short video clip excluded the breadth of the story about how she eventually worked with the man over a two-year period to help ward off foreclosure of his farm, and how she eventually became friends with him and his wife.

“And I went on to work with many more white farmers,” she said. “The story helped me realize that race is not the issue, it’s about the people who have and the people who don’t. When I speak to groups, I try to speak about getting beyond the issue of race.”

Sherrod said the farmer, Roger Spooner of Iron City, Ga., has since died.”

Mike Barnicle..no man has ever had a more appropriate name.
Barnicle...a parasitic sea growth that attaches itself to a host and then interferes with its smooth operation. In larger colonies of like growths can really screw up the works.
Sailors like myself spend many hours scraping and ridding our boats of these unwanted passengers.
(I think the real things are spelled BarnAcle. maybe)

If it was all innocent, I wonder why she resigned so hastily.

Kirsten Powers (FOX) said a couple of weeks ago that the Black Panthers incident should have been handled as a local police matter. Her ignorance of the law is stunning. Even a Democrat apologist needs to come up with a somewhat credible defense of the indefensible. She failed. Wonder if she thinks a bunch of guys in sheets keeping black people away from the polls should be handled by the local police.

Here are the meeting minutes just before she was chosen:

Hey Guys! I have a Great idea! You know who we should appoint to be the next USDA Rural Development Georgia State Director?

Now get this! What if we appoint a racist Black woman who has never been to the country and couldn't tell the difference between a cow or a goat, or a turkey and a chicken?

Wouldn't that be great!? I'm sure she would do a fantastic job. We are the government after all. We are here to serve the public and not to pursue artificial PC nonsense. Right?

Now I know we have all these local farmers who have been here and lived on a farm in the country for five generations but screw them. They are all White. We need a Black woman for this job!

Thanks for the info. I’ve updated the original NewsBusters item:

Update: Since posting this item, I’ve learned, thanks to FR reader NoNAIS, that Sherrod has stated that the incident occurred 24 years ago when she was working at another agency, not the USDA, and that she’s since had a change of heart. The Morning Joe crew would likely have mentioned that had they been aware of it. They were thus presumably making their comments on the assumption that the incident had been relatively recent.

"...Where is Joe Farmer? He has to know she’s talking about HIM..."

One of three possibilities:
1. Either there are a whole bunch of "Joe Farmers" because she did it for years.
2. There really are no "Joe Farmers" and she was just posturing for her audience.
3. There was only one isolated incident and some poor "Joe Farmer" guy got screwed.

Gee.... I wonder which is the most probable.

He wrote a book that came out a few years ago that was supposed to be a new bible for the moderate set that would project him into the running for president in 2012 as a pubby (my interpretation). No-bah-dee bought the book. HA!

The woman is a racist — and no amount of your whitewashing can change that fact.

What is the difference if it was 24 years ago or 24 hours ago? And why tell this in front of a NAACP crowd with a few safe white folks in the audience?

Is this the African American version of the 'WASP Jew Joke' which used to be told in Whites Only Country Clubs with the colored help listening on?

Carlson: "I mean, there's more [racism] on one side [whites] then the other,"

Really Tucker? Take a quick gander at the FBI inter-racial violence statistics. But then again it's probably just crime, not crime-crime as whoopey would say. Whitey, being the oppressor, is more likely to have jack so that's why the bruthas rob, rape and murder him.

Her recent comments are not in the past, she revived them just so she could show the NAACP how she dealt with uppity white boys.
