US commitment before direct talks-Abbas won't talk until Palestinian state's borders are guaranteed

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has told his Fatah movement he wants a more specific US commitment on the borders of a future Palestinian state before agreeing to direct talks with Israel.

Abbas says he received assurances from US President Barack Obama, but that they weren't clear enough. He says he expects enormous pressure, but that he will not go "blindly" into negotiations.

Abbas spoke late Tuesday at a closed-door meeting with Fatah leaders. His comments were published in a Palestinian daily and confirmed by his adviser Sabri Saidam.

The PA president is under pressure from the US administration to agree to direct negotiations with Israel as soon as September, when the four-month deadline for the proximity talks expires.

Next week, two more significant bodies – the Fatah Central Committee and the PLO Executive Committee – are scheduled to hold meetings in Ramallah to discuss the status of the peace talks and issues related to internal reforms in Fatah and the PA.

The two bodies are also expected to back Abbas’s position regarding direct negotiations.

Heck, the US borders are apparently not guaranteed. How can anyone guarantee the borders of the ME?

The Democrats do not want our Southern borders to be secure. This is to make it easy for muslims and Hispanic gang members to enter. And the sanctuary cities are to areas for them to set up their bases. And at a given time in the future, the Democrats will give the signal for them to begin to unleash terror and mayhem upon the poplation. Just as Ted Kennedy and other Democrats met secretly and openly with the Communists to plot and plan our destruction, I believe Democrat operatives are meeting with and plotting with terrorists organizations, the Mexican and south American Cartels and gangs such as SUR 13. It is not the illegal vote that they are after, though they will take it. It is the terror, mayhem, and chaos they want inflicted on the population so that the serfs will cry,"Declare martial law, do anything, but save us from this".

If you wonder why there will never be peace in the Mideast, why the West and Islam will never get along, it’s simple: we live on Planet Earth, they live is some Bizarro imitation.

In their universe you wage war, you lose, you wage some more war, you lose some more....and then you dictate the terms for the unconditional surrender of the victor.

The one problem we still rational people have is that much of the World is slowly creeping along into that Bizarro universe.

This is the same BS Syria does, when it gets close to face-to-face talks, whichever member of the hereditary monarchy is on the Syrian throne pisses on it by making the non-negotiable precondition of the return of the Golan Heights -- the only thing there is to negotiate over (since no one seriously believes any Moslem or Arab will keep their word regarding a peace treaty).

Israel should draw a green line around Hebron, and guarantee that as the border of "Palestine". That's what's known as calling someone's bluff.

Time for Obama to publicly humiliate Abbas.

Jonathan D. Halevi

The Palestinians have totally rejected an Israeli plan to recruit the EU to build power stations, desalination stations, and sewage treatment plants for Gaza.
Sami Abu Zuheiri , a Hamas spokesperson, argued that Israel, “the occupying country,” must continue to provide for Gaza’s needs.
Hamas, which took pride in liberating Gaza from the Israeli occupation via Jihad, is struggling with all its might to preserve the “Israeli occupation” and obligate Israel to continue transferring supplies to an entity that avowedly declares that it will liberate all of Palestine, liquidate the State of Israel, and kill and expel its Jewish inhabitants.
