Bachmann: Subpoenas and Hearings Are Coming in 2011 (w/ audio)

Want a sneak preview for what the 2011 legislative calendar has in store?

The Intrade prediction market is giving the GOP a 57-percent shot of taking back the House of Representatives this fall, meaning it is more likely to happen than not. And a lot of polls seem to be indicating the same thing. But should that happen, then what?

According to Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., the House Republicans should exercise their power to subpoena and hold continuous hearings. Speaking to a gathering for the GOP Youth Convention on July 22 in Washington, D.C., she emphasized this point.

“Oh, I think that’s all we should do,” Bachmann said. “I think that all we should do is issue subpoenas and have one hearing after another. And expose all the nonsense that is going on. And it’s very important when we come back that we have constitutional conservative leadership because the American people’s patience is about this big.”

Bachmann expressed her concern over the stake the government has in the private economy, which has grown since President Barack Obama was sworn in as President of the United States.

A tip: invest in popcorn in 2011. It’s going to be a bad year for rats.

I just hope that IF the GOP gains control of the House, they have all their ducks in a row. To just start hearings the way D’Amato did in ‘95 with the Whitewater hearings will be as fruitless as his was.

Paybacks are a Mother, and it’s time the Democrats were on the receiving end.

I have absolutely no respect for any Republican who wants to live and let live after the way they were treated by pelosi and the Democrats.

Michele Bachmann has it right. Hold the Obama administration accountable for their abuse of power (and the U.S. taxpayer). Unfortunately, unless the Republicans gain a huge voting majority, arcane House rules and pouting Democrat politicians that are experts at using them to thwart inquiries, will stymie any attempt to put some light on the Obama administrations shenanigans. Of course, this assumes that the new House majority are not only Republicans, but 'Michele Bachmann Republicans', not 'John McCain Republicans'. No guarantees on that one.

I love Michelle’s thinking and am behind her 100%, however she first needs to get the ball-less, gutless, pansified metrosexuals passing themselves off as conservative representives on board. Since this dumba$$ Obamanation has been in power, I have yet to see one of them actually make any demonstrable effort to collectively “right” the ship. Cowards and pansies all...

Let’s sharpen the national razor, and put zero and the Dims’ necks in the hole. You go Bachmann and bring Issa along.

Since the rats took congress back, and especially since obamabongo got elected, the dems have conducted - what amounts to - a race riot throughout America. There has been cries of racism and discrimination, looting, and destruction on a National level.

It's time to bring in the riot squad and put an end to this chaos.

I essentially agree, but if the Republicans are smart, they will keep their mouths shut, get control of the House, and hold hearings using a moderated tone until they get something worth having. Then they can start pulling the dead cats out of the bag to show off.

Instead, what I am afraid we are going to see is every freshman Republican Congressman running his mouth everywhere he can, making promises about things he has no idea about, only to fall on his face in a very public manner.

The problem is that “our guys” in Congress, particularly the new ones, do not understand that for the most part the public is fed up with all politicians. The pubic does not want posturing. The public prefers politicians who “walk softly but carry a big stick”.

Haley Barbour is the perfect Republican politician in my view. Listen to him carefully. He cuts and slices the Democrats totally and completely, but none of them know how badly they are cut until just before they bleed to death from the cuts that he has inflicted.

Issa made a similar comment about a week ago. He’s on the right committee to do it.

My question is, what happens if the Democrats hold congress? Not sure if anyone realizes this but if the Republicans do not take congress in 2010, next up would be Fairness Doctrine, the takeover of more industries and the final destruction of the Constitution.

If we lose, by 2012 we will be Venezuela.

Sorry but I think the Reps will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. They cannot even stay on message now.

Let's just win the US House and US Senate back first. OK to strategize BUT first things first.

They are planning ahead this time:

Darrell Issa has eye on subpoena team (we need more like this guy!)

"HERSHEY, Pa.— Rep. Darrell Issa, the conservative firebrand whose specialty is lobbing corruption allegations at the Obama White House, is making plans to hire dozens of subpoena-wielding investigators if Republicans win the House this fall.

Issa has told Republican leadership that if he becomes chairman, he wants to roughly double his staff from 40 to between 70 and 80. And he is not subtle about what that means for President Barack Obama...."

-end snip -
