Local law enforcement was bombarded with calls from across the country Saturday asking about a report that the Zetas had taken over two ranches off Mines Road.
But officials with the Laredo Police Department, Webb County Sheriff’s Department and Border Patrol said they knew nothing about such an incident, while Erik Vasys, an FBI spokesman in San Antonio, said the agency does not comment on rumors.

I don’t know about it either. I can see them having a media blackout, for sure, but it seems some locals in the area would know the truth and it would go viral, and it hasn’t.
The LEO’s would neither confirm nor deny that this happened,,,
If it was just BS I would think they would just say so,,,
If part of their area was out of their control it would
make them look bad,,,

Right. Somebody could fly over in a small plane or chopper and look for it. If there’s an airspace restriction, then a land check as close as possible or from a nearby hilltop or tall building with some high-powered binoculars would anser the question.
Your coordinates are about 16-17 miles northwest of I-35 on Mines Rd. Look for the oval track back towards I-35 - that’s the ~10-11 mile point.

You know, if memory serves me right, the first and last person to get away with this kind of thing was Orson Wells and his War of the Worlds broadcast...And even that had a disclaimer...Just not often enough to keep everyone (who didn’t hear the disclaimer) from panicking...
In this case, I believe inciting “something” would be a potential charge in this case...

Looking at the territory with Google Earth I see lots of fence lines, country road, small and large buildings, etc.

Who knows..but the left is already seizing on this ‘story’ to paint us as extremists.. Go figure...(eye roll). You would think that they would be just as concerned about the possibility that this was true, but instead they don’t care about anything other than smearing us. There is a real war going on on our border and people need to wake up. The ranchers in South Texas and Arizona have been intimidated, terrorized and murdered by the cartels for years.We have car bombs, beheadings,kidnappings and grenade launchers going off just yards from our borders and the left stays silent. Unfreakinbelievable. They do the same thing with the islamic terrorist killing fields the world over.
They didn’t care when the Taliban were shooting woman in stadiums for entertainment in Afghanistan years ago, but boy they were up in arms when the Taliban blew up the Budda Statue. These people deserve nothing but contempt.

I spoke with a friend who has a small ranch about 10 miles east of the ranches in question and he reported no increase in LEO presence and had heard nothing of this story. He said he’d call if that changes. Living out in the country he has always been well armed and vigilant. The ongoing gun battles between the cartels and the Federales and between rival cartels is just across the border from him and he does worry about spillover from that. All of us with family along that border worry about that.

Hit 3D when the link opens. A building will show up with a chicken foot type landmark. Very strange. This would be the most likely spot if this incursion by Los Zetas happened.
