True, but in the book the conversations are one sided. We never see what Galt is saying, just what Eddie is saying to him. Galt appears many times, for example waving to the train at the opening of the John Galt line, but never speaks.

I don’t think we’re ever told for sure in the book that Eddie’s friend was Galt, but I always believed it was.
