2008 Barack Obama Convention Speech Transcript(Hope and Change Flashback)
zimbio ^ | August 28,2008 | Barack Obama

(HOPE AND CHANGE HIGHLIGHTS) Tonight, more Americans are out of work and more are working harder for less. More of you have lost your homes and more are watching your home values plummet. More of you have cars you can't afford to drive, credit card bills you can't afford to pay and tuition that is beyond your reach.

These challenges are not all of government's making. But the failure to respond is a direct result of a broken politics in Washington and the failed presidency of George W. Bush.

America, we are better than these last eight years. We are a better country than this.

“You see, we Democrats have a very different measure of what constitutes progress in this country.

We measure progress by how many people can find a job that pays the mortgage; whether you can put away a little extra money at the end of each month so that you can someday watch your child receive her diploma. We measure progress in the 23 million new jobs that were created when Bill Clinton was president - when the average American family saw its income go up $7,500 instead of down $2,000 like it has under George Bush.

We measure the strength of our economy not by the number of billionaires we have or the profits of the Fortune 500, but by whether someone with a good idea can take a risk and start a business, or whether the waitress who lives on tips can take a day off to look after a sick kid without losing her job - an economy that honors the dignity of work.

The fundamentals we use to measure economic strength are whether we are living up to that fundamental promise that has made this country great - a promise that is the only reason I am standing here tonight.”

TOPICS: Business/Economy; Editorial; Government; Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: 2008; economy; mccainordie; obama; unemployment
Can anyone find a 2008 pre-election speech where Obama promised that he would make excuses for four years even after getting a filibuster proof House and Senate? Or that he would just claim he created or saved millions of jobs with no proof or basis for the claim. Did he promise to STILL be talking about GWB in 2010 as if he (Bush) is still president and not himself?

You see he talked conservative and liberal/progressive both. Many independents unhappy with Republicans (for good reason) swallowed this crap in 2008 and now are very sorry Obama was ever elected. You can see the polls completely changed in two years.

The bright side? Few are buying Obama's lame excuses. Obama-nomics is on trial, not McCain, not Bush (anymore.)

Typical politician. He ran on the premise that the previous eight years under Bush were terrible and that he was going to fix everything that was wrong. Well, he hasn’t...in fact, he has made it all worse. Finally, some people are starting to realize he isn’t going to be the savior they thought he would be.

It's a grammatical mess. More Americans, more of you ... more than? "More" needs more to finish out the sentence. Without the more than .... it is a meaningless word. Otherwise it is just a comment about population increase.

Our great country shouldn’t have to suffer the current crop of fools in Washington, and the vast majority of us are looking forward to the opportunity we’ll have on November 2nd to start firing them. Hopefully, the prosecutions will begin soon afterward. I for one relish the thought of seeing Charlie Rangel performing the perp walk, followed soon afterward by Chuckie Schumer.

“It’s a grammatical mess.”

Why do you think his college transcripts and written work are not available? Aside from his citizenship status, I mean...he’s a dunce, a fictional character created by affirmative action...and power backers.

I thought some inspiring words from 2008 might help.

And I have been inspired to lose weight, since reading Obama's words tends to make me want to barf.

So you are not buying that ‘created or saved’ argument? It's based on the scientific formula that every $1 in pork barrel welfare spending creates $2.40 in jobs. Look at all the jobs the unemployment compensation created. With that type of investment Greece should be rich by now. They can bailout us.

RE :”This is not going to end well for the country.

You know my theory. Obama’s presidency was required to end the myth (largely created by Bush) that Bill Clinton saved the economy with tax increases and regulations and that Bush destroyed it with tax cuts and social spending cuts. Next time we need to pick a better Republican to avoid a Obama/Pelosi.

The worst part about Obama is he is setting back race relations 50 years, being a progressive/socialist/and for amnesty and against any enforcement of immigration law.

2008 Barack Obama -------- Hope and Change Flashback

The New New Deal By Charles R. Kesler

Adapted from a lecture delivered at Hillsdale College on February 1, 2010, during a four-day conference on “The New Deal,” co-sponsored by the Center for Constructive Alternatives and the Ludwig von Mises Lecture Series.

EXCERPT Unlike most Americans, President Obama still bristles at any suggestion that our nation is better or even luckier than other nations.

To be blunt, he despises the notion that Americans consider themselves special among the peoples of the world. This strikes him as the worst sort of ignorance and ethnocentrism, which is why it was so difficult for him to decide to wear an American flag lapel pin when he started running for president, even though he knew it was political suicide to refuse wearing it.

As candidate Obama hinted in his Berlin speech during the campaign, he really thinks of himself as a multiculturalist, as a citizen of the world, first, and only incidentally as an American. To put it differently, he regards patriotism as morally and intellectually inferior to cosmopolitanism.

And, of course, he is never so much a citizen of the world as when defending the world’s environment against mankind’s depredations, and perhaps especially America’s depredations.

In general, the emotionalist defense of the earth—think of Al Gore—is now a vital part of the liberalism of our day. It’s a kind of substitute for earlier liberals’ belief in progress.

Although his own election—and secondarily liberalism’s achievements over the past century or so—help to redeem America in his view, Obama remains, in many ways, profoundly disconnected from his own land.

We are seeing these people for what they are and BTW it is not nice,Not so much relations but instead realities; Hope and Change is code for Hate and Blame. Now it is out and will not go away the hate cripple class brought this upon themselves.

RE :”Hope and Change is code for Hate and Blame

The best part is when Obama complains about his economy like Bush or McCain is president. He is great with ramming things through without our say, but come time for the blame for failure he acts like he's not president.
