The White House says it didn't try to stop news organizations who had access to secret U.S. military documents from publishing reports about the leaks.

WikiLeaks posted 91,000 classified documents on Afghanistan Sunday. The organization's founder says he still has thousands more Afghan files to post.

These documents could easily be placed under copyright laws.

No they can't. A work of the United States government cannot be copyrighted.

Well, NYT was a prior restraint case, and to the extent that people think that the White House could have used the legal process to prevent the publication of the documents, they are delusional.

A different question is whether they can be prosecuted for the publication after it occurs. I still tend to think that the publication is First Amendment protected, but it’s a different question and fair to ask.

All this wikileaks has done is draw attention away from Obamas problems, such as Kagan who may have been instrumental in diverting the first eligibility cases approaching the SCOTUS.

Also is Obamas plummeting ratings, his constant escaping from Presidential duties which really is a joke there as he never qualified to be President in the first place and now the weekly vacation.

Obamas world is imploding, he needs a diversion no matter what even if it does give hime some negative image, in as such as these leaked war documents I believe Obama ordered it to be leaked deliberately.

Just one more reason to impeach and imprison the Kenyan con-artist in the white house. Last time I checked he was the responsible party as commander in chief, unless of course, it was either the fault of Bush or racism.

Wikileaks cannot be raided by the US because it is not based in the US. It is based in the UK. It is therefore the responsibility of Prime Minister Cameron to launch a full investigation, followed by arrests and confiscation of computers, files, correspondence, etc.

WHY didn't the Obama administration try to stop the publication of Military secrets?!

You assume that the Obama administration is not itself the leaker.

You think a low-level officer has ACCESS to a hundred thousand documents?

Exactly. Just because someone has Top Secret clearance doesn't give them the keys to every military file pertaining to an ongoing operation. You've got to have "need to know" in order to have access. Either this was one heck of a hack, or someone high up leaked it.

Hundreds of people giving us information to help us fight the war have to now run for their lives.

Now it is back to square one and will cost more of our soldiers lives.

You have heard it before, because it it true. They never even prosecuted the guy who revealed the secret to the effective hydrogen bomb, because he did not give it to any other country, but to people at large, by publishing it.

“Statutes MIGHT indicate that prosecution is a POSSIBILTY?” that is WAY weak. Too weak to even pretend to enforce. Especially by Osama Obama.

UBL’s in New Mexico imo. BHO has committed treason. This morning, he called himself a mongrel on The View. Who is he race bating now? Does he want total lawlessness so he can declare martial law????? He’s baiting somebody to slam peoples of mixed race. There are millions of people of mixed race and that’s not bad but he’s trying to start another fire. BHO’s is a fire starter.
