[snip] Update 3:55pm Eastern Cloture vote falls short, DISCLOSE Act fails 57-41.

Schumer won’t let go:

Sen. Charles Schumer, the sponsor of the stalled campaign finance bill, promised Tuesday that Democrats would hold round-after-round of votes on it until it passes.

Schumer (D-N.Y.) spoke to reporters following the weekly caucus luncheons, slamming Republicans for holding up the response to the Citizens United Supreme Court case, which allowed unlimited political spending by corporations and unions.

“And we will go back at this bill again and again and again until we pass it,” he said. “It’s that vital, not to Democrats, not to Republicans, but to the future of people’s faith in the functioning of this government.”

I think all 41 voted to kill it...in effect a successful filibuster.

That’s not to say that will last...

What a disgrace that the NRA made a deal with democrats to avoid inclusion in this fraudulent, unconstitutional piece of tripe. I wonder how many members it cost the organization, apart from me, that is.

The Republicans should offer non-stop amendments that demand that Barry prove where he was born and prove positive that he is a NBC. That will stop Schumer.

You just put a smile on my face too. =)

I wish we could get Congress stuck in an infinite loop until January. Something like:

#1) Vote on DISCLOSE.
#2) Reject it.
#3) GOTO #1.

It would keep them from doing any more damage. Can’t we just pay these people to go off on a deserted island somewhere and just leave us in peace?

Seems to me that soon congress will be taking the August break. If the pubs hold out long enough, even if they do twist enough arms to get this monstrosity passed, something that they do NOT think will pass the Supremes but hope to shut us with the next campaign...the companies and groups should start advertising and do their thing right away.

I’ll add that the fine, fine Delaware Congress critter, Mike Castle, was one of only 2 Republicans in the House to vote for this thing...him and the Vietnamese guy.

Help us get him outta there....help promote his opponent, Christine O’Donnell.

No. The RINOs Graham, Collins, Brown, and Snowe amazingly voted against it — for now.

I thought that once a bill gets voted down can’t be brought up for vote again. Can anyone comment on this?
