[snip] Update 3:55pm Eastern Cloture vote falls short, DISCLOSE Act fails 57-41.

Schumer won’t let go:

Sen. Charles Schumer, the sponsor of the stalled campaign finance bill, promised Tuesday that Democrats would hold round-after-round of votes on it until it passes.

Schumer (D-N.Y.) spoke to reporters following the weekly caucus luncheons, slamming Republicans for holding up the response to the Citizens United Supreme Court case, which allowed unlimited political spending by corporations and unions.

“And we will go back at this bill again and again and again until we pass it,” he said. “It’s that vital, not to Democrats, not to Republicans, but to the future of people’s faith in the functioning of this government.”

Yes, folks, we were successful. NOW WE MUST CONTINUE TO POUND AWAY AT THE POLITICIANS BY WAY OF PHONE CALLS, EMAILS, FAXES, LETTERS! TO VOTE AS WE THE PEOPLE WISH.

George Washington lost many a battle against the British until HE WON THE WAR. Keep that in mind and keep fighting in any way you can to destroy the enemy in the White House. It will be a never ending battle for the Constitution, our life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. FREEDOM IS NOT FREE AND MUST BE FOUGHT FOR WHEN LOST.

Tie up your boots, grab a hold of your courage and determination and fight like hell. THIS IS OUR COUNTRY, AND NO SOCIALIST SLIME IS GOING TO TAKE US DOWN!

I think we learned the hard way about something passing the SCOTUS. It took how many years to get McCain-Finegold emasculated? The sure thing is a vote no. Once it gets passed that, it is just a crapshoot on what Kennedy will do.

Don’t worry.

I’m sure they’re cutting deals with the usual suspects as we speak.

They’ll muzzle the little people yet. :)

I thought that once a bill gets voted down can’t be brought up for vote again. Can anyone comment on this?

Did you ever see the youtube of Rep. Alcee Hastings, who famously explained "We have no rules around here. We make them up as we go along."

Reid can bring it up again. And again. And again. Some of these bills have more lives than a cat.

Maine is beautiful state. I love to visit..but...it’s home to the Chellie Pingrees of the really, really Radical Left (despite the fact that her handlers seemed to have cleaned her up a bit) who vote for every piece of left wing crap legislation Pelosi presents....had that POS defeated Susan Collins, DISCLOSE would have passed. Had Scott Brown not ignored the pressure of many of his constituents, DISCLOSE would have passed. Had Olympia Snowe not done the same, DISCLOSE would have passed. Snowe and Collins and Brown each received my note of thanks for their votes against DISCLOSE. If Snowe gets thrown out, perhaps Pingree will make it in and you’ll get what you wish for...unless you think the stork will drop a 200% Conservative into Snowe’s seat...not in Maine, my FRiend.

I know what you mean about Chellie Pingree....she represents Maine’s 1st congressional district, in southern Maine, also known as “North Massachusetts” to the people in northern Maine. She’s a die-hard lefty. Her daughter Hannah “serves” in state government here in Maine.

True, Snowe and Collins sometimes vote the “right” way....they both voted against Obamacare, thankfully. I held my nose and voted for Snowe in 2006 because I wanted the GOP to hold on to their majority in the Senate....it didn’t work out that way, since the dims regained both the House and the Senate. Snowe won 71% of the vote.

Collins won re-election in 2008....she was running again Tom Allen, a moonbat who was vacating the House seat that Chellie Pingree won. Compared to Tom Allen, Susan Collins looked good.

I don’t believe Snowe or Collins will ever be thrown out. They’re entrenched, they have statewide name recognition, and they appeal to both democrats and republicans....at least “moderate” republicans. They will probably have their Senate seats for as long as they want them.

I know we’ll never have a senator like Jim DeMint here in Maine, but at least we have a TEA Party candidate who won the primary for governor in June....LePage is the GOP nominee for governor, and he has a good shot at winning.

Very good. I hope The dems keep bringing it to a vote for the next two or three years, as long as it fails every time. Hopefully the Senate will do nothing else during this time.

There was talk a couple of weeks back that the NRA was going to endorse Harry Reid....anyone heard anything more on that? They didn't deny it, but they didn't acknowledge they were considering it either.

If they do that, I'm canceling my membership. And I've never joined.

Thanks for the update. My recollection is that Pingree ran against Collins, lost and then went off to Common Cause. If that was 2002, then Time is running much too fast and I’ll probably die of advanced old age before I can post this note. At that time, Pingree looked as if she’d just finished a twice daily chore of slopping the pigs. I took an interest because I was P.O.’d at Collins for being insufficiently conservative and realized what horrors awaited us were she to lose. It’s frightening that Pingree seems to be establishing a hard left dynasty.

It’s good news that they’ll both be around. If LePage is the TP candidate, I’ll Google him and send some money.

In the PRNJ, we kicked Corzine out last year so miracles are indeed comprehensible. Be well and be optimistic!

THANK YOU for the good news on the ground report!!

And I’m sure the guests of Snowe have seen it, also. Nice topic while ‘trying’ to get some R ‘n R at the beach house.

Hanging by a thread, 1 Repubic changes the scenerio. Reid changes his no vote to yes makes it 58-40 and Lieberman makes it 59-40. Ensign should vote No I would think but he has scandal issues. Still it stands in my book 59-41.

“Lets do a new version in January that applies only to Non-Profits, Unions, and Public Unions.”

Right. And then we’ll see how they like that.

No. The RINOs Graham, Collins, Brown, and Snowe amazingly voted against it — for now.

Those are the four we should give holy hell not to cross over and support it. McCain too.

If we can get the RINOs to hold firm like they did on health care, we can stall this. There's NOTHING in this for any Republican with a brain and there's no reason for any of them to switch their vote. NONE.

Pound the phones and faxes of these five senators for every day the Schmucky calls for a vote.
