MUSCAT/TOKYO (Reuters) – A Japanese oil tanker damaged in an explosion in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important shipping lanes, was being diverted to a port in the UAE on Wednesday.
One of the 31 crew aboard was injured but no oil leaked from the M Star very large crude carrier (VLCC), according to the Japanese transport ministry.
It said an explosion occurred onboard at around 00:30 a.m. local time (2030 GMT Tuesday), but the cause was unclear.

Oman's coastguard said there was no evidence of any attack on the tanker and instead cited an earthquake.
"The boat was hit by a tremor ...we have no information of an attack," an Omani coastguard official told Reuters.
Really....? A tremor at sea and no tsuanmi reported....? How absurd.

Either this thing got hit by a missile attack from a small boat or it ran over a mine leftover from back when the Iranians were mining the Gulf. Or, possibly, there was some sort of accident onboard. But an earthquake? Oh please.

Every other day now there seems to be a new oil leak somewhere, yesterday there were 2 new ones, I find all this to be very suspicious.

This would not be in the Iranians interests to do this. It would give the excuse needed to attack them. I have no idea who did this but I would suspect it is an "agent provocateur."

Despite reports from UAE sources that the damage was caused by an excessively large wave caused by recent seismic activity in the region, MOL are adamant that the ship suffered an assault. A crew member claims he saw a flash on the horizon followed immediately by an explosion.

I don't know, it seems that it's the oil supply that's being sabotaged. I don't remember this many large oil spills ever.
Neither really do I. It could be the Eco-freaks doing this, as much as Al Qaeda, but if it were Islamic terrorism, it would be something more spectacular. Plus, the terrorists don’t tend to mess with the Asian countries since they know that they will lash out back far worse.
