Uh, what do you suggest? As Rush is saying this will probably be overturned. And Rush is talking about people who feel the way you do right now. The momentum will carry to November. Screw November? I don’t think so.

Well, she just said turn them over to the Feds, I guess the Feds in any other state would be acceptable.

From Woonsocket to Westerly, the troopers patrolling the nation’s smallest state are reporting all illegal immigrants they encounter, even on routine stops such as speeding, to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, known as ICE.

“There are police chiefs throughout New England who hide from the issue . . . and I’m not hiding from it,’’ said Colonel Brendan P. Doherty, the towering commander of the Rhode Island State Police. “I would feel that I’m derelict in my duties to look the other way.’’

Rhode Island’s collaboration with federal immigration authorities is controversial; critics say the practice increases racial profiling and makes immigrants afraid to help police solve crimes.

R.I. troopers embrace firm immigration role

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit upheld Rhode Islands practices just this year in Estrada v. Rhode Island, citing the 2005 Supreme Court ruling, Muehler v. Mena, that "a police officer does not need independent reasonable suspicion to question an individual about her immigration status…

Given that 2005 Supreme Court ruling, I don't see how this judge had a legal leg to stand on. Did the AZ lawyers even submit this in their case??

Take a cue from zero and the administration and pass another law. No need to give any info to cops if you’re stopped in AZ as you can claim to possibly to be an illegal.

WE’RE ALL ILLEGALS NOW!

Don’t worry about that term “papers.” “Papers” is just what people in Europe call what we call “ID.” It is an emotionally loaded word here due to all the old movies with the gnatzies hissing “lit me zee yoh papehssss”.

"according to Rush the Judge ruled police can’t determine illegal status."

The Feds won't bother asking them either. They'll just release them from custody.

Rush correctly stated that this throws all federal laws into chaos, since this judge is questioning the ability of police to enforce accepted federal laws. Kidnapping, interstate corruption cases, regular police officers will no longer be able to enforce any federal laws if this is ruled justified.

My, my, the can of worms the left is willing to open...

Agree.

I only add that as in centuries past, tyrants should fear for their personal safety.

They can buy houses, YES even the DRUG LORDS can move right next to your house and put your kids in danger of a shoot out. They can DRIVE their fancy Mercedes with mexican license plates and NOT pay road fees and park them in front of there fancy homes..AND yes they can enroll their kids in our schools which taxes go through the roof every year because the city has to build more schools to accommodate them(I’M NOT JOKING!!). I can give you a long list, but suffice to say that AMERICA is no longer USA.

Not looking to be saved. Just looking for clear interpretation of the ruling, which I don't think they've provided yet.

The ruling says that law enforcement still must enforce federal immigration laws to the fullest extent of the law when SB 1070 goes into effect at 12:01 a.m. Thursday. Individuals will still be able to sue an agency if they adopt a policy that restricts such enforcement.

Bolton did not halt the part of the law that creates misdemeanors crimes for harboring and transporting illegal immigrants.

Bolton’s ruling followed hearings on three of seven federal lawsuits challenging SB 1070. Plaintiffs include the U.S. Department of Justice, the American Civil Liberties Union, Phoenix and Tucson police officers, municipalities, illegal immigrants and non-profit groups.

She denied legal requests by Gov. Jan Brewer, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and several other defendants seeking to have the lawsuits dismissed because, they argued, the plaintiffs did not prove that they would be harmed by the law if it went into effect.

Next, hearings will be scheduled to begin hearing the full case in the seven lawsuits. All or some of the suits could be consolidated. A full court hearing is likely to involve appeals, possibly as far as the U.S. Supreme Court, and could take several years.

Gov. Jan Brewer was giving a speech in Tucson Wednesday morning when news of the ruling broke, and was not immediately available for comment. Campaign spokesman Doug Cole said her staff was reviewing Bolton’s order and would be briefing the governor as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Rep. John Kavanagh, one of the co-sponsors of the bill, called Bolton’s ruling “very disappointing,” saying that she “went to the meat of the law.”

“The decision is very disappointing,” Kavanagh said. “Those were major parts of the law that helped us battle illegal immigration. I assume that we will immediately appeal to the 9th Circuit (Court of Appeals).”

Kavanagh said that the state remained committed to defending the law and seeing it enacted. “This is only the start of the legal battle.”

David Gonzales, U.S. Marshal in Arizona, whose agency is charged with security at the federal courthouse in downtown Phoenix, said the building was closed to the public except for those who have business there.

Gonzales said there was some concern about protesters in the wake of Bolton’s ruling.

“When you have situations like this, emotions are running high on both ends,” Gonzales said. “So the potential for violence is high.”

I say, enforce the law as written anyway. Let the judge come to Arizona and try to stop it.

The judge also put on hold a part of the law that required immigrants to carry their papers at all times, and made it illegal for undocumented workers to solicit employment in public places

If I lived in Arizona I would rent a bus and take all the hard working illegal immigrants (sorry undocumented workers) down to the public court house and have them start soliciting for work. They could go from court room to court room asking for work. If anyone stopped them, well I guess we would have a Federal Lawsuit!
