Ariz. Gov (Brewer) Calls Ruling "Temporary Bump" (Will Appeal)

PHOENIX (AP) - Gov. Jan Brewer says it's just a "bump in the road" that a federal judge blocked key parts of Arizona's immigration enforcement law from taking effect Thursday.

Brewer says she's disappointed by the ruling.

But she notes that it doesn't block a provision barring local governments from restricting the enforcement of federal immigration laws.

Brewer says the fight isn't over and that the state will soon appeal Judge Susan Bolton's ruling to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and to the U.S. Supreme Court if necessary.

In Brewer's words, "this fight is far from over."

I wish she wouldn't appeal. I wish she would ignore it. Dare the Feds to enforce this ruling.

Do what Obowma did, just ignore it ...

Remember the drilling moratorium? Just write a new law and send it forth.

Ignore it Governor. Let your lawyers appeal, but in the meantime. Ignore the ruling and step up the rhetoric.

Who will be the first American murdered under this ruling? Their blood will be on Bolton and Obama’s hands.

The Ninth Circuit (rolling eyes). Translation, appealed to the SCOTUS.

Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard:

Jan Brewer played politics with immigration, and she lost.

Rather than providing the leadership Arizona needs to solve the immigration problem, Jan Brewer signed a bill she could not defend in court which has led to boycotts, jeopardized our tourism industry and polarized our state. It is time to look beyond election year grandstanding and begin to repair the damage to Arizona’s image and economy.

Perhaps now we in Arizona can focus on effective steps to fight border crime and keep our families safe. Now we can focus on steps, such as the ones I have been taking, to go after border crime and cut off the cash that flows to organized criminal cartels that smuggle thousands into the U.S.

This joke is runnign against Gov. Brewer. I hope he is humiliated in defeat.

I don’t get it. The narrative doesn’t sufficiently elaborate what this jerk judge decided.

I assumed she would overturn it, given statements she had made, but given comments about this issue from constitutional attorneys, I would expect any appeals, ultimately to SCOTUS, would be successful.

I think Arizona should have IGNORED the case entirely, refused to plead, and proceed with enforcing the state law.

Its time the states start to take action to nullify idiotic court decisions and idiotic edicts from the moron in the White House.

Remember that the Ninth Circuit rejected a challenge of Arizona’s E-Verify law by refusing to review a decision upholding it. The Ninth Circuit is nothing if not consistently inconsistent.

It would be REAALLY nice if Hayworth could make political hay of this decision and use it to bump that RINO McCain out in the primary.

Don’t APPEAL it you dumb broad, IGNORE IT!!! Tell your troopers, etc to ENFORCE THE LAW! Tell the citizens of Arizona to make their OWN stops of suspected illegals!!! Hire actual CITIZENS to defend the border.

Great. If only Joe Arpaio was the norm. Instead there are morons like Pima County Sheriff Dupnik who called the law stupid.

It is a bump, and it was also very predictable. This was bound to happen. So, let the appeals begin.

I think this ruling today - as I understand it - is like a temporary restraining order.

No final verdict has been issued. And even when it is issued, it will be appealed and bumped to to the 9th circus.

Then on to the lesbians at the Supreme Court.

Can anyone say Yippeee?

So it’s ok to ignore Federal Law, but not ok to enforce it.

OK....

Time out, Gov. Brewer. Judge Bolton’s ruling today is just a temporary injunction against enforcing certain portions of SB1070.

The actual trial hasn’t even occured yet, so there is nothing to appeal yet except for removing the temporary injunction.

Didn't I read that part of the AZ law provided for citizens to sue the police if they didn't enforce immigration laws?

Why, then, can't the citizens join in a class action lawsuit against Governor Brewer AND obama for not enforcing immigration laws at State, OR federal level?

Anyone know?

The ruling today is a ruling in favor of Open Borders, which is exactly what the Obama Administration and the Liberals want. The Open Border rhetoric has been cranking up as of late.

Why have Passports?
Why have Citizen tests?
Why have residency requirements to vote, collect Social Security, receive financial aid, or run for office?

See where this is going....?

Remember November....

Anyone want to guess how the “Wise Latina” will someday vote...I mean, rule...?

This judge had to distort what the law said in order to rule against it. She admits taking one sentence out of context, ignoring the preceding and following sentences, and using that as her basis for ruling. It was very dishonest.

Roger that. The 9th circuit has come down on the right side of several immigration issues. Regardless this is headed to the Supreme Court.

I’m glad to hear from her so soon after the expected ruling by the Fed sycophant Judge.

She sounds upbeat, and positive, and will proceed in the direction best for Arizona, and this Nation me thinks.

I believe she knows well how important this action by Arizona is. As well as Obama and crew as they are afraid. Very afraid of hers, and Arizona’s success.
