Dolan is also the man who did absolutely nothing to silence the many Milwaukee priests who publicly opposed the Wisconsin Marriage Amendment. He is a coward and a hypocrite. I thought only leftists used the “uncharitable” accusation when they didn’t want to hear the truth.
Archbishop Dolan wrote and spoke out in favor of the Wisconsin Marriage Amendment. He also allowed Catholic opponents to express their view. This is usually the best course concerning public-policy, not doctrinal, matters. Given the amount you (and I) don’t know about all that the Archbishop has done, and is doing, charity requires that we put the most favorable interpretation on his actions. In my experience, it is usually conservatives who are charitable to a fault.
