Anthony Weiner, get thee to a phar macy -- fast.
If ever anyone would appear to be a candidate for medication, it's the terminally excitable Brooklyn Democrat, who threw yet another temper tantrum Thursday on the floor of the House of Representatives.
There was Weiner, his voice screeching, flailing away at Republicans who opposed the Zadroga health-care bill for folks who claim to be victims of 9/11-
related maladies. The bill fell short of the two-thirds majority demanded by his fellow Democrats.
"Sit down! You sit down!" shrieked Weiner, as one Republican tried to get him to yield.
Nor is this the first time the congressman has thrown a fit on the floor (last time was about Republicans and the insurance industry), and the recurring schtick really is beneath the dignity of the House.
OK, maybe "dignity" and "the House" are oxymoronic (see above, Charlie Rangel), but Weiner does aspire to the mayoralty, and the last thing New York needs is such histrionics in City Hall.
As for the Zadroga bill itself, we've long expressed our doubts about legislation that awards costly benefits to anyone who simply asserts -- without medical proof -- that they became ill as the result of 9/11 toxins.

This is showboating by Weiner. He is a phony. As for the bill, when do we stop giving away money to every interest group with a voting block!? First Responders!? There was a time when we all jumped in to help and then went home without expecting more attention and reward. I personally know one 911 first responder here in metro NY who has managed to retire on ‘disability’ but has no problem playing golf and holding down a secret second job.
Knowing the reps those two have, they probably went on separate honeymoons.

While I don’t agree with his view, I will say, I am sick of republicans who don’t have the guts to say nothing doing on the health care bill. If you are against it, vote no and don’t apologize. If we could have that fire in the republican party, maybe someone would be heard.
