Ann Coulter to Headline Gay Conservative Fundraiser, 'Homocon 2010'
Associated Content ^ | Aug 7, 2010 | Mark Whittington

It seems that the irrepressible Ann Coulter is going to headline a fund raising event by a group called GoProud, a Gay Republican organization. The fund raising

The Left, as one might imagine, might have a hard time putting together the word "gay" and the word "conservative" in the same sentence. But, as the GoProud website suggests, gay people, like black conservatives, can also be in favor of "--limited government, individual liberty, free markets and a confident foreign policy."

GoProud particularly opposes the estate or death tax since gay couples do not enjoy the marriage exemption to the tax as they are not legally allowed to marry in most states. In fact, one GoProud spokesperson called it "the gay tax."

GoProud somewhat eschews traditional gay political issues like same sex marriage and hate crime legislation in favor of tax cuts and rights of gun owners.

Ann Coulter, who once used an anti gay slur to refer to former Presidential candidate former Vice President candidate, and former Senator John Edwards, would seem an odd choice to headline something called "Homocon." But this is another stereotype that the Left likes to impose on people. Surely one cannot be a straight conservative and not hate gay people?

Apparently Ann Coulter can be a right winger and show up to party with gay folks. In fact, when asked about it, she said, "I'm the right-wing Judy Garland!" The late singer and actress most famous for her starring role on "The Wizard of Oz" was well known for her associations with gay people.

(sorry, my comments got cut off above) The problem I have with these homosexual activist groups is they almost always start veering towards the gay agenda at some pont. There used to be another so-called Republic gay group called ‘Log Cabin’ (no pun intended) and all they did was endorse RINOs. Here’s what one of the leaders of this new group GOProud claims:

...as opposed to being a conservative organization and working on conservative issues. Low taxes are but a drop in the bucket.

These folks have a lot of nerve even suggesting conservative blacks are the same as them. NO COMPARISON!!

I will lose oll respect for Ann if she does this.

Who is ‘Tammy Bruce’, your female gym teacher? Again, to each his own. If your lifestyle leads you to explore the waste elimination region of another male, so be it. But what in the heck does that have to do with politics? Why would any political group form their identity around a sexual practice? It seems totally bizarre.

I didn’t know Tammy Bruce was gay, yet I really like hearing her on the various Fox programs.

So there, I’m not racist...or whatever!

So, the fact they do promote a lot of Conservatism as such: lower taxes, strong military, individual liberty, capitalism..none of that matters? And if you were really honest, couldn't you say the same thing about Religious Conservatives? I mean, after all, aren't they also promoting the “Religious Agenda” at some point? And further, isn't largely a Christian Agenda..which leaves Jews like me sort of left out? I mean, if you're gonna start the “ ‘X’ agenda” argument from any party's factions, lambaste them all.

I wouldn’t compare the Christian agenda in any way to the homosexual agenda. And can’t quite see how the Christian agenda would clash with a Jewish agenda. We’ve got the same ten commandments.

I like Ann. However I don't see how you can get around that quote. Thanks. That's a mouth full :(

I see your point, but again why does this group GOProud form around a 1% sexual proclivity? What in the world does that lifestyle choice have to do with Conservatism? I just don’t understand it.

No, that is merely the American people conserving the same ideas that they had when they created this nation, conservatism is the continuation of the original Americans and that means being religious also, it is the whole conservative package, not liberalism with conservative economics.

I started listening to her radio show when she was the youngest president of the LA chapter of NOW, she doubled it's membership, was it's longest lasting president, and listening to her radio show was an interesting experience.

It was kind of amazing to see her getting tougher and tougher with the left as she grew more conservative, she has a mind of her own and is strong willed.

Well, last I checked..individual liberty, which they do espouse and defend, was THE principle this country was founded upon. The organization upholds and defends the US Constitution as originally intended. It’s not “Liberalism with Conservative economics. And by the way: Supply Side economics, which influenced all great economists from Hayek then to Von Mises and Friedman, originated in Austria. Where you get the idea this is strictly “Conservative economics”, or it’s somehow the province, or an original idea, of political conservatives is sorely mistaken. It was invented before Conservatism as you know it today ever existed.
