Well I don't care if democrats keep nominating super liberals like Pelosi but I have serious problems with Republicans losing two elections in democrat landslides yet bring out the same old trash each election. Graham-nesty is a perfect example of why we need what I been preaching for years (read George Will's book back in 1993 titled Restoration), congressional term limits. We definitely need other limits on congress and president's power too. These Senators are arrogant after a few years.
I suggest 60 day terms each year. Any longer and they just turn to mischief.
I suggest we not pay these people. I suggest they be required to keep more than one foot in the private sector, so they have to live under the same rules they draft for everyone else.
I suggest the funds they collect for one election be required to be spent on that election, or returned to sender.
No way should they be able to run for higher office, hold over funds from that campaign and then drown their opponent in a lesser election with redirected funds.
There needs to be a better way to recall them. They should serve at our pleasure and be subject to recall on a moment’s notice. Make the bar real low, to set up a mid-term recall effort. No longer would they be able to screw us in years one to four of their term, then be able to kiss up to us in the last two years before they stand for election again.
As for term limits, I’m actually all for it, but I believe the courts will say that if the people want the politician for longer than two terms, they should have the option.
We definitely need to both limit their mischief and make them more accountable.
When you have to spend 9 months of the year in your hometown supporting yourself, it’s not very much fun to have your neighbors yelling, “Hey, F U asshole!” across the street.
And when your business dries up, you begin to sit up and take notice.
My favorite, and ever present example of this arrogance from MY senator, Diane Feinstein, when a delegation from the most agriculturally productive valleys in the country visited her and expressed concern for the water supply and the health and food supply of people over bugs and bunnies, she famously snapped,
"It's the LAW! Deal with it!"
I hate that woman.
