LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Tonya Agnew and Amy Crampton have been together for 12 years and are raising two boys, but they say a chance to legally wed would be important for their family.
That wish is closer to being granted. The couple are second in a nationwide competition that would give them a wedding in Washington D.C., where their union would be legally recognized.
"We've already been to Washington D.C., but it's just time for them to get married," said Leo Crampton, the couple's youngest son. "It's just the right way to treat people."
Both Agnew and Crampton said that they did not enter lightly into the contest, but believe it is important for their family.
"It's not easy to put yourself out there, especially when you have kids, but it's an important issue," said Crampton.
Agnew and Crampton said that the community of Greater Lafayette has been very supportive of their family. They urge anyone who does not support same-sex marriage to get to know their family.
"We come with the assumption that you're going to be okay with us because we're good people. We take care of our home. We're always running our kids places. So hopefully you'll get to know us and find we're decent people and the fact that we're a same-sex couple will become a non-issue," said Tonya Agnew.
"Growing up with them, it's a lot easier to accept everything. And I really appreciate how they've raised me, and they have made me who I am. I think that people just have to be around them to know who they really are," said Jesse Mccallister, the couple's oldest son.
Friends said that the two deserve to win because they are a strong, healthy couple who are madly in love.

Since when did the left and gays care about marriage? They’ve done nothing but criticize and degrade it since the 60’s, now all of a sudden it’s this magical institution? It’s like the mosque at ground zero; nothing more than an opportunity to spit on something Americans place value on.

First the Gays said they wanted Civil Unions, now it’s marriage. Elementary arithmetic says that if you take something away from someone that thay person has less. It doesn’t make it equal.
The ruling not only overturns the will of the people, but says that a heck of alot of people have been living unconstitutionally since Colonial times. Dennis Prager made the point last week. Whenever I want clarity on an issue I do to Prager.
It seems that it would be far better for the Gays to come up with a term that is exclusively theirs. But then that would not further the agenda that is in play. So in the meantime, let’s take back the word “gay”. Perhaps straights should begin referring to themselves as “Gay Straight Americans”. Hey, I’m happy, straight and American.

For those who are not aware, Purdue University is there (more specifically, West Lafayette). It is about as large as the rest of the City.
The liberals think that traditional marriage is a patriarchial archiac oppressive institution to the female partner. The propaganda is that the male partner gets all the benefits of traditional marriage, while the female is oppressed.
But, when it comes to same-sex marriage, the liberals celebrate these relationships as an affirmation of love and committment and togetherness and all that.
So, traditional marriage = bad to the liberals
homosexual marriage = good to the liberals
It’s not marriage itself they oppose, it’s the type of marriage which they take issues with.
