Are they Holdens shipped over from Oz and rebadged or are they built here by UAW vermin?

The GTO and G8 were built in OZ.

The Statesman/Caprice is currently as well. Whether they will shift production, I can’t say. I doubt they will because this is a rear wheel drive V8 powered sedan.

Ford isn't much better (and I like both ford and gm, at least in the past). I have a newer mustang which at 30k has already needed a throwout bearing (mfg. had a bad run, no recall, cost me 650.00 installed) sway bar links, and now it looks like it needs lower control arms (bushings going bad). Sigh. I'll never buy a new car again. Sticking with used stuff i can fix myself..
It will be a cold day in Hades that I spend 41+K on something that can only go 40 miles!

Chevy Cruze:

Chevy Volt

Same car (both Daewoo/Opel designed/engineered Delta II platforms), different drivetrains. Volt will get 55-60 mpg in real life. Cruze will get 45 mpg at half the price.

I hate Government Motors and would never buy either.

The Cruze is a Daewoo design with Opel engineering.

40 if you’re lucky. A?C will make it worse. Turning on the heater will make it much worse. Hills will make it worse.

Expect 25 miles or so in real life.

340-40=300miles

9 gallons over 300 miles = 33.3mpg for the Volt’s engine.

9 gallons over 340 miles = 37.7mpg for the Volt’s engine and battery.

Overall FE for the Volt seems decidedly unimpressive on long trips.

If we go with a 6 gallon tank and the stated 340 mile total range we get 56.6 for the engine and battery and 50 for the engine alone.

How they are getting big numbers is using shorter trips where the first 40 mile use no fuel. So they could say you went 80 miles and only used 3/4 of a gallon of fuel so you got 106 miles to the gallon.

Ford discontinued the Crown Vic Police Interceptor last March and replaced it with a model based on the Taurus. Main competition is now the Charger.

You said it, many great rides made over the past few decades are better built and can provide better service than the dumbed down clown cars being 'ass embled' now and in the ridiculous future.

It's actually becoming chic, Volvo is in the lead with a car approaching 3 million miles.

Who's the high miler around here?
