White House unloads anger over criticism from 'professional left’ By Sam Youngman - 08/10/10 06:00 AM ET

The White House is simmering with anger at criticism from liberals who say President Obama is more concerned with deal-making than ideological purity.

During an interview with The Hill in his West Wing office, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs blasted liberal naysayers, whom he said would never regard anything the president did as good enough.

“I hear these people saying he’s like George Bush. Those people ought to be drug tested,” Gibbs said. “I mean, it’s crazy.”

The press secretary dismissed the “professional left” in terms very similar to those used by their opponents on the ideological right, saying, “They will be satisfied when we have Canadian healthcare and we’ve eliminated the Pentagon. That’s not reality.”

Of those who complain that Obama caved to centrists on issues such as healthcare reform, Gibbs said: “They wouldn’t be satisfied if Dennis Kucinich was president.”

This sounds like WH spin. They couldn't ignore the criticism coming from the true believers. So they claim it's because Barry's rolled up his sleeves and gotten things done. Alas, not ideologically pure leftism, but 70-80 percent is better than nothing.

The truth is the vast majority of American's reject all of Barry's socialism. The progressive mission is going to suffer a huge rejection this November and they no it. The post-election analysis will be "moderate" Obama has been attacked by "Tea Party crazies."

“ha ha......Barry has finally awoken to discover that his hard-core base is INSANE and that there is basically NOTHING he can do to placate them. And it couldn’t happen to a nicer guy!”

Yeah, well, Obama is insane also. If he could get away with it, he would do everything the “professional left” (the loonies) want done. He’s one of them. Only political reality (the opposition) stops him. He’s certifiably nutz, just like his base.

Funny, but I can’t think of a better house to be divided against itself.

Obama is trying to slap his base back into line, by hitting his media critics who represent that opinion. This has every chance of backfiring.

"That's not reality," as in, "we wish we could do it, but at this point we could never get away with it," reality???

Exactly.

The founders, those “dead white male slave owners”,

are thwarting them. They want to do everything the hard core left wants to do, because they ARE hard core leftists,

but the system, even with their control over it, is providing checks on their power.

....and still bitch that the bullet just entering their head wasn’t ideologically pure enough.

I heard it a little differently: complain about lead from the bullet being environmentally unsafe.

Oh, reeeeeeeeally, Bob?

OK, Mr. Gibbels, let's compare W's policies with 0bozo'a policies.
What is the real difference?

0bozo is the same, but does 10Xs more of it, except he lets taxes increase.
So, we have a Chocolate W who spends and taxes more. Lots more.

How's that Hope and Same working out for you?

Think about it. The best TV ad conservatives could run would be a video of Obama’s face turning into Bush’s face. Overlay that with a graph showing Obama’s diminishing poll numbers and talk about the dismal economy. This would infuriate Obama loyalists, and influence the apolitical. (with later apologies to GW)

You’re right about the effectiveness but you wouldn’t have to apologize to W. He never took offense at anything and he would understand the purpose of it. Many of his policies made me angry but he has a remarkably forgiving personality and a balanced view of life in general. Actually he could have been a little testier at times for my taste. lol

I’m not sure if this is just a tactic by the professional left to make him look more centrist, or if they really believe it.

If they do, it’s absolutely incredible how insular their ranks are.
