No let’s see if the Republicans have the ‘cojones’ to start making a very big deal out of this.

Our state VOTED to raise sales taxes temporarily to halt teacher layoffs and/or other education cuts. Why couldn’t other states do the same?

Were the photo-op teachers laid-off teachers? Where are these laid off teachers?

The feds paying for more teachers the local districts can’t afford on their own. I hope Christie turns down the money as it will only equal more local taxes for us long-term.

drain the working citizens who are already struggling to maintain the salaries, perks and pensions of the public unions (so called public servants who in theory work for us). Indeed, the parasite is bigger than the host and both will soon parish.

I’m confused by this. I’m pretty sure every single district in CA laid off teachers by increasing class sizes this fall.

So what now? School starts in 2 weeks. How is this money exactly divided up? Do fiscally responsible districts get any money, or just the ones who wasted money and overspent during the “good years” and didn’t keep any reserve?

Is there time for these fired and now re-hired teachers to get their classrooms ready? For the districts to re-assign all the students within the schools?

I’m mystified by the how this will all play out in practicality. . .somehow it all seems shady. . .

It looks like the money is actually going to the retired teachers so they can keep getting their big fat pensions?

God help us all. . .I can’t believe DC rushed back to pass this; I have 4 kids in public school but this all seems so pathetic and wrong to me. . .

[Alleged] President Barack Obama immediately signed it into law.

And still not a single scrap of Constitutional jurisdiction or legitimate power over education.

It only protects unionized government workers to ensure a flow of union dues that will be skimmed to finance Democrat campaign coffers. Obama/Reid/Pelosi had to push this through as an "emergency measure" to ensure the money is available in time for the November election campaigns.

this is one of the biggest frauds this administration has put out there.

If school districts are having trouble paying salaries, they simply raise the school taxes of their district.

But now, my district’s residents will be paying for teachers somewhere else.

There were NO layoffs pending anywhere in my area, how about yours, or anywhere else? I haven’t heard of any school district unable to raise taxes to avoid any “layoffs”

Yet, the soon to be dinosaur media will repeat the lie.
