Harry Reid: "I don't know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican."
The Weekly Standard ^ | August 10, 2010 | John McCormack

Posted on 08/11/2010 3:21:53 AM PDT by Scanian

While campaigning in Nevada Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid told an audience of mostly Hispanic voters: "I don't know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican, okay. Do I need to say more?" Watch the video here:(snip)

Reid's racially-charged comments come as the Nevada Democrat is trying to boost Hispanic turnout in his bid for reelection this November. Polls show, however, that Reid's positions on immigration are very unpopular with Nevada voters in general. Reid supports the Obama administration's lawsuit against Arizona over its immigration law, but 63 percent of Nevada voters oppose the lawsuit, according to a Rasmussen poll.

Reid voted against a measure to complete a 700-mile fence along the Mexican border in May, but 68 percent of voters nationally support building a border fence, according to Rasmussen.

But he does know shine-ola (or was it the other one). Either way, it is obvious he doesn’t know one from the other.

Need I repeat Nathan's maxim yet again?

Harry must be scared on some level by his internal polling to play the race card so clumsily.

They need the hispanic vote to even stay afloat after all nonsense they have crammed through. The Democrats will pander to whatever group they think is stupid enough to be led.

Well Dingy Harry, *I* don’t know how any self-respecting BLACK person could be a Democrat, considering that the ‘Rat Party is the home of institutional racism, the party of Faubus, Wallace, Maddox, Bull Connor and his attack dogs and firehoses, and WHO was it that helped LBJ break the racist filibuster of the Civil Rights Act by southern ‘Rat Senators?

GOP Senators, that’s who.

You only have a few more months to keep them uppity blacks down on the ‘Rat plantation Harry, because come November, the voters are going to remember, and YOU will be out of a JOB!

"I don't know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican, okay. Do I need to say more?"

so if I understand Harry's "translation": All people of Hispanic heritage hate the constitution and are 100% for breaking the laws of the USA?

Harry must be scared on some level by his internal polling to play the race card so clumsily.

Probably is unsure if he has enough illegal and otherwise fraudulent vote lined up to carry him to victory.

Are there any Hispanics with self respect who would vote for that kind of clown?

What he is implying seems to be that all Hispanics are illegal aliens. Or that there are no illegal aliens. He, in any event, doesn’t distinguish between American citizens who are Hispanic and those who are not. He simply judges them by the color of their skin.

Hispanic is not a race.

It is an ancestry, a heritage.

Like Italian or Russian or English or African.

The demoncRAT demogogues use “race” as a euphemism for protected identity groups, including their favorite “religion”, MoHamHeadism.

Note well that anti-Asian sentiment is not considered racism to the demoncRAT demogogues, neither is it racism to call an African descendent who has apostasized from the communist faith an “uncle Tom”.

It is only “racism” when you counter their collectivist, totalitarian, statist plantation ideology.

But a new poll conducted by Zogby International in April shows that these organizations don’t represent Hispanic Americans, who are largely pro-life.

When asked to give a specific position as to if and when abortion should be legal or illegal, Hispanics support a pro-life position by a 78-21 percent margin.

An overwhelming 40% of all Hispanics say abortion should never be legal. Others taking a pro-life view say abortion should be illegal except when the life of the mother is in danger (11%) or illegal except in rare instances when the woman is a victim of rape or incest (27%).

Only 21 percent took a position in favor of legal abortions and only 15 percent of Hispanic Americans say abortion should be legal throughout pregnancy. The rest favor prohibiting abortion in the later stages of pregnancy.

Raimundo Rojas, the Hispanic Outreach Coordinator for the National Right to Life Committee says Hispanic groups that co-sponsored the abortion march falsely claim to be pro-Hispanic on abortion.

“In this country, as is evident by the Zogby poll, we Hispanics bring our morals and our cultural abhorrence for abortion with us when we migrate,” Rojas explained. “But make no mistake, we are a targeted group by those marching here on Sunday. They’ve even gotten some terribly misinformed Hispanics that are way out of step with the rest of us to join them.”

“But the vast majority of us know what’s right, we know that every child has place en nuestras casas y nuestras familias — our homes and families,” Rojas said. “We know and cherish and honor the sanctity of motherhood and of life.”
