Breaking news: Handel calls Deal, concedes GOP nomination for governor

Just in from Karen Handel:

I want to thank all of my friends, supporters, volunteers and my campaign team for a tremendous effort over the last 16 months. We ran a terrific campaign, beat the odds to come in first place in the Primary, and came so very close in the runoff election.

As of this morning, we are four tenths of a percentage point behind Nathan Deal with absentee ballots and overseas military votes yet to be counted.

We certainly have the option of requesting the automatic statewide recount. But we are not going to do that.

The best thing for our party is to rally around Congressman Deal as our nominee in the fight against Roy Barnes. Barnes would return Georgia to a past that is best kept in our rearview mirror. We must marshal all of our resources to defeat him.

I spoke with Nathan this morning and let him know that I endorse his candidacy and look forward to the fight against Barnes. I have also called on all who were supporting me to give their same

Eric Johnson was always my first choice. I believe this runoff would have been between him and Deal if it weren’t for all the “outside help”

As I said before Handel has an ethics charge against her as well. I believe Barnes had a lot more on her - liberals were pulling for her.

“Handel has a campaign finance charge against her as well, so either one would have faced that when facing Barnes.”

A charge of violating campaign finance law is one thing, but an allegation of using your Congressional office to secure a no-bid state government contract is quite another. The FBI gets very interested in the latter.

Nathan Deal will be a shoo-in to win the Governor's office now.

Aaaaw schucks....this is bad news for you after-Birthers.

So Obama, are you going to run in 2012? Snicker.

Nathan Deal says he’ll ask for Barack Obama’s birth certificate

Yeah, I have to stop and question any ethics charges when it’s SOROS’ funded group CREW coming up with the charges. Kind of like the left’s ethics attacks on Palin.

In any case, the charges were not even pursued by the Feds. I don’t think this will be the end all issue you think it will be.

I’ll forward this to Tom Tancredo in hopes of convincing him to get out or the way, in the race with Maes and Hickenlooper.......

Why concede? They may put her over the top?..............

Because if they do put her over the top, This takes the recount out of Deal’s hand. He would look real bad asking for recount after she didn’t

“So why do Republicans accept defeat with grace...”

for Democrats, politics is about themselves, their beliefs and desires, and narcissism. Some Pubbies genuinely believe in public service. Most have a life outside politics.

No, supporting such things and not having been a Democrat means you are a Leftwingtard (or LIBERAL in polite parlance) not a RINO.

Obviously we are going to have to send the Union Army back down there to he'p you people work this out.

You have to remember that the term RINO was being used decades ago before Ronald Reagan came along. In fact, in those days we used to differentiate between "Rockefeller Republican" and "RINO" and "Eastern Wing of the Republican Establishment".

A RINO is a Democrat who runs in a predominantly Democrat area under the Republican label. The purpose is to deny a regular machine Democrat a position in Congress or a state legislature, or sometimes a Governorship or a Mayorality. This frequently happens with city council elections.

A Liberal is a mind-numbed, knee-jerk, robot-like adherent or advocate of various discredited and antiquated Leftwing nostrums and notions. A RINO does not need to be a Liberal, nor are all Liberal Republicans RINOs. Some of them are just unpleasant people who can't get elected as Democrats.

BTW, Ronald Reagan never ran for public office as a Democrat. Deal did. That indelibly marks him as a RINO. Not that they are all bad, but if we don’t need to run a RINO why run one.

will depend on how the ongoing investigation into his company's no-bid state contracts turns out

The group making this charge is called CREW. They are a George Soros funded propaganda outfit. The accusation here is pure gutter politics has no legal base.

Deal has a 100% rating from the American Conservative Union.

That "Conservative" enough for you?

Did I say Deal wasn’t Conservative? I merely said he’s a RINO ~ he ran for and won public office as a Democrat, and without skipping a beat began to run as a Republican. Please remember that before he ever ran as a Republican he ran against and beat good honest Republicans for public office. He destroyed their future political careers and hurt the party.

They’re “soft” on some issues, so no. I demand more including purity of purpose in your early political career.

CREW is getting sued by the same puke suing FR in Nevada.

Still, the typical CREW accusation rarely goes anywhere no matter what it is ~ and that happens when you just make up stuff with no basis.

with...overseas military votes yet to be counted.

Do their votes not count? Don't you think their votes deserve to be counted?

They keep saying that, but the sos site says they were counted.

I am sure the military vote will lean towards Deal as he is the veteran in the race.
