Washington City Paper ^ | 8/10/10 | Dave McKenna

Mothers, don't let your babies grow up to bogusly claim they were Cowboys.

I got a call yesterday from Michael Vaughn, the Maryland delegate from Prince George's County whose official campaign bio boasted that he "played professional football for the Dallas Cowboys for 3 years” when he actually hadn't played even a single play for the Cowboys or any other NFL team.

This liberal hack was elected to Maryland's House of Delegates from Prince George's county.

Yeah, they're real geniuses there in Maryland, I tell ya.

Didn't Marylanders also elect Steny Hoyer and Nancy Pelosi's dad as mayor of Baltimore?

What kind of crazed idiot is he? Was he ever paid by the cowboys for something like 4th string never suiting up, like in “Rudy”?

If he made this up out of the clear blue,, it’s just more nutty than i can get my mind around.

Was he on the team roster? It should be easy to find out.

In the age of Google, Twitter and Facebook you have to be nuts to make a bogus claim like that.

As a Marylander, I have to suggest that real genius abounds in the state of Florida. Right, chad?

Rudy actually did suit up and get in for a play. That wasn’t just a movie script, the play did happen.

On Christmas 1968, President Nixon ordered us to cross into the defensive backfield.

“I was in...Sang Bang...

I was all over the place, a lot of places.”

What unit?

“I was with the Green Berets,
Special Unit Battalions...
Commando Airborne Tactics...
Specialist Tactics Unit Battalion.
Yeah, it was real hush hush.
I was Agent Orange,
Special Agent Orange, that was me.”

Made up out of whole cloth apparently. They have changed their side of the story a lot and then finally erased it and blamed some staffer.

He is not listed on any historical NFL team roster according to NFL.com. He could have, however, been signed to the Cowboys Practice Squad. If so, he would still not be considered “rostered” as far as the NFL was concerned. The Practice Squad players do not suit up with the team or travel with the club to away games. He may feel that he was a part of the team but in soothe, is not considered to have played for the team.
