Glenn Beck Explains Why He Doesn't Focus on Culture War Issues
Fox News ^ | 8/1/2010 | O'Reilly Factor

Posted on 08/13/2010 10:55:44 AM PDT by Ol' Sparky

O'REILLY: Why don't you do the culture warrior stuff?

BECK: Because honestly, right now, I mean, the one part of culture that I am doing a lot of is faith. But general faith. We have got to get back to our churches, our synagogues, our mosques, whatever it is, as long as it's not telling to you blow things up. Get back to God and get back to the Founding Fathers.

O'REILLY:. But let's take the gay marriage deal. You know, big ruling in California. You really didn't cover that much, right?

O'REILLY: Why?

BECK: Because honestly, I think we have bigger fish to fry. You can argue about abortion or gay marriage or whatever else you want.

O'REILLY: Yes.

BECK: The country is burning down.

O'REILLY: Isn't that one of the reasons, because we're getting away from the traditional way we used to live into this progressive...

BECK: Instead of arguing about these divisive things, let's get back into our churches and our synagogues and...

-

O'REILLY: Yes. I have to correct you. You are ignoring the profound change in the American family.

BECK: No, I'm not.

O'REILLY: But you're not covering it.

BECK: Because I think that the thing that needs to be covered -- Bill, I believe in a symphony. If we're all playing clarinets, we ain't going to get very far. A symphony needs to sound. I'm covering what I cover. You cover what you cover. Both of us are saying the same thing. Watch the culture.

O'REILLY: Do you believe -- do you believe that gay marriage is a threat to the country in any way?

BECK: A threat to the country?

O'REILLY: Yes. Is it going to harm?

BECK: No. Are the gay -- will the gays come and get us?

Beck figuratively blind if he doesn't understand how the homosexual agenda is being used to erode freedom in this nation and what a danger rulings like the one Vaughn Walker just made to our democratic form of government.

No, I think he's simply trying to make the "first things first" argument. When the building is burning down, you try to put out the fire, rather than dwell on what caused it in the first place.

We are all on the same page! - Trust me.

Glenn Beck’s contradictory behavior is logically inexplicable. I suspect that he is either being bribed or being blackmailed.

To use your analogy, I think what Beck does is to learn what causes fire and teaching others that fires are bad things.

I rely on multiple sources for multiple subjects. If Beck is focused on stopping socialism and the growth of government then he’s got his hands full.

“Falafel” O’Reilly is a mental midget. What Obama is doing to this country is 10x as important as cultural issues.

There are causes, and there are symptoms.

I have to side with Beck here. The #1 most important thing is to return to the principles of the Constitution and ensure our liberty.

Big Government is the biggest threat to our way of life today, bigger than the homos, bigger even than Islam.

Beck lost creds with me over the birther issue.

Speak the truth to power is something he doesn’t do.

It is possible for different people to have varying priorities without being bribed or blackmailed.

I saw that segment with Beck and was a little confused.

I was surprised to hear Beck put mosques right up there with churches and synagogues. I didn’t expect that of him.

IIRC, he pretty much said he didn’t have any issues with homosexuality. It seemed like politically correct speak took over.

I agree with Beck.... our country won’t change until men’s hearts change.

Mormons can be like that, think Mitt Romney.

Or as Glenn Beck describes him.

"I have to tell you that Mitt Romney could be the only guy that could win, and I don’t know if he could because I think that Americans are going to be I mean, this country is going to be in deep trouble by 2012, and the next term, if it’s not decided this term, the next term will decide our fate. Then I hope that Americans are ready for an adult and are ready for hard news."

I don't like O'Reilly one bit, but he's got a point here. Social issues are just as valid as the economy, the national debt, the growth of government, and the police/nanny state. Homosexuality is burning us down just like the economy...just it's the unseen fire inside the walls, while the spectators are paying attention to the fire on the roof.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

O-No-Spin is worrying about what color to paint the rooms and Beck is saying the house is burning down.

I'm done with Glenn. Like every other media conservative, he is afraid of the gays. Why? Because he likes his job and the money he makes.

If you doubt it, consider what the homosexuals in the media did to Dr. Laura. They ruined her.

In my experience, you can tell a lot about what someone goes out of his way NOT to talk about.

I don’t mean that in some suggestive “He’s secretly gay!” way. It’s just interesting what apparently obvious subjects for some people don’t get discussed.

Close to an endorsement. It's still a bit early for Beck to come out with a full fledged endorsement. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when.

Yeah, one person can only do so much. Beck has chosen what he considers to be the main battle and is hoping others will guard the flanks.

Both, actually. He knows that if he wants to keep his advertisers, he's got to be perceived as at least gay-neutral.

But I don't discount blackmail either. Blackmail is another weapon commonly used by the homosexual activists and who knows what kinds of skeletons Glenn has in his closet.
