Give Mahmoud Abbas credit, at least, for consistency. Eighteen months ago, when the then-new Obama administration tried to jump start Middle East peace negotiations, the Palestinian president balked. He said he would not agree even to meet the newly-elected Israeli Prime Minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, unless Netanyahu made several big concessions in advance -- including recognition of a Palestinian state on the basis of Israel's 1967 borders and a freeze on all Jewish settlement construction in the West Bank.
Convinced that Netanyahu was the problem, the Obama administration spent the next year in a crude and clumsy effort to extract those concessions. Netanyahu stoutly resisted; the administration belatedly discovered that it could not compel a democratic ally to comply with its demands. Eventually a rough compromise emerged: Netanyahu publicly accepted the idea, but not the pre-defined borders, of a Palestinian state; and he imposed a partial and temporary freeze on the settlements, which is due to expire in September. The administration agreed that should be good enough to start formal peace talks.

Why? Because they are not in enough pain to want peace.
Why?
Because there’s no money in peace.
I’d say that they are just waiting for Iran to solve their problem. Hopefully, like other plans from the likes of these people (yes idiots all), it will be just another major mistake.
Why doesn’t cancer want chemotherapy?
I was going to post something, but it’s obvious we all know the answer.
Because they don’t need to re-arm right now?
“Because theres no money in peace.”
If they get a state, they are no longer stateless.
All the refugee welfare goes bye bye.
Also, Abbas isn’t really in control, and has never said he can negotiate for “the Palestinian government,” only his party.
“Id say that they are just waiting for Iran to solve their problem. “
Look at it another way. The minute Iran has its reactor up there is no reason why the Palis need peace. They would have an Iranian nuclear umbrella to shield them. Then the attacks on Israel will start.
Imagine a Syria, Lebanon, and Gaza/West Bank attack on Israel with the threat of Iranian nukes if Israel doesn’t back down. Add in a Islamic Turkey, a Jordan and Egypt who are not exactly Israel lovers and a Saudi Arabia with advanced American weaponry.
Now add in an anti-Israel world media.
This is a recipe for a global disaster. Oil prices through the roof, war and an America that has demonstrated its disdain for Israel over the last 18 months. This will destroy our country.
Just what the Communists want.

THat’s my thinking exactly... They expect Iran and their chorts to take care of the “Zionist” problem in short order. They are just biding their time...
Yes agree... actually was a bit tongue in cheek there. I think that way too many governments want Iran to destroy Israel and until recently, the US was in their way.
Now with Obama, I think they see a way to get this done (note that hardly any country is for real restrictions against Iran).
As forecast by the bible, all will turn against Israel (and though I never would have though that the US would, it seems to be doing so now). I really think that it will mean the beginning of World War III...since Iran is a bit unhinged!

I think the coming war will cause chaos, and it’s all but certain, but I don’t think Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia will be in Iran’s corner — not at this point, at any rate.
Jordan and Egypt are Sunni Muslim States who have been at “peace” (such as it is) with Israel for years, and share borders with them. They don’t WANT hostilities with Israel again, NOR do they want to suffer under the dominion of the Iranian dominated Shi’a Axis. Saudi Arabia hates Israel, but they FEAR a nuclear Iran more. If Iran obtains nukes, not only do the Saudi’s lose all their oil fields in Northeast Arabia along the Persian Gulf, but they ALSO lose control of the most holy shrines of Mecca and Medina to the Shi’a — nuclear blackmail is a wonderful thing. None of the Emirates in the Persian Gulf would benefit from falling under Iranian control either.
Iran’s axis is likely to consist of Syria, Lebanon (Hezbollah virtually runs it now anyway), Turkey, Hamas and potentially the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank, also Terrorist organizations like Al Queda and Islamic Jihad, as well as Yemen, Somalia, Sudan, and possibly Libya, Ethiopia and Kenya. And of course, Iraq will be torn apart by warring faction should this war erupt, and the Persian Gulf will be mined and blockaded by Iran and turned into a shooting gallery.
The only question — which side will the US be on? WIth the current Regime, one can never be sure. Being he is from a Sunni background and has bowed to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, well....Then again, considering he is from Kenyan descent, and Kenya may lean in the other direction and is moving more toward exteme Islam....???
Strange times....
