'Will retaliate if offended by US', warns Chinese General

BEIJING: A Chinese General on Friday termed as "flagrant provocation" US plans to send a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier to the Yellow Sea and said the country would retaliate if "offended".

"A country needs respect, so does a military. We will retaliate if we are offended," Major General Luo Yuan, deputy secretary-general of the People's Liberation Army's (PLA) Academy of Military Sciences, wrote in an editorial in the PLA Daily.

The US is "pushing its security boundary to the doorstep of others — the Yellow Sea, South China Sea and so on," Luo said.

China had in the recent weeks voice its firm opposition to activities of foreign military vessels or planes in the Yellow Sea and China's coastal waters, saying they undermine it security interests. Despite China's warning, the US insists on sending the carrier ‘USS George Washington', he said

The General was reacting to remarks by Admiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, that the carrier will always go into international waters.

China is developing a new missile called Dong Feng 21D, that could penetrate the defenses of even the most advanced aircraft carrier at a distance of more than 1,500 km.

Well then, the entire US Navy is now on ‘double secret probation’.

Commence the trade war.

Seriously.

It’s only going to get worse, the longer we wait.

And the entire time, China is becoming more dangerous.

Time to shut down imports from China. Just turn the ships away.

The only thing that concerns me about this threat is the fact that we have an America Hating Marxist asshat in command of our military.

That in and of itself is very concerning.

WRT China, what president has done anything to make them believe otherwise.

We for some insane reason long ago came to the (wrong) conclusion that America should maintain a posture of weakness and submissiveness in every way about China.

Which is the exact wrong thing for us to do. As China becomes stronger, China will become more aggressive.

Period.

The more money and technology we send to China, the more aggressive and dangerous the country will become.

We are creating our own worst possible enemy, by our bone-headed and wrong policy, of not standing up for our interests vis-a-vis China.

It didn’t have to be this way. But now that it is, we have got to change the way we do business with China.

Or frankly, we’re going to be destroyed as a nation and a culture, within one generation.

Wake up people.

If the Chinese had any respect at all for the current administration they would never talk that way. Neither China nor the former Soviet Union ever spoke that way when Reagan was president. The Chinese consider the current administration to be weak and cowardly punks that they can push around whenever they want.

The question is who in Washington is going to put on the knee pads and grovel and apologize.

I guess the biggest chink in our foreign affairs armor is our ignorance of 1) what offends the Middle Kingdom, and 2) how easy it is to do.

Hey General, two thoughts. First, look up “international waters.” Second, you sound insecure, only the weak lash out when they don’t have to.

So who on “our side” has taken any sort of stand for American strength and industry?

Who on “our side” has been in any way more intelligent about keeping American strength?

NOBODY.

While the commies in the Democrat party are disarming us, the “Free Trade” dumb*sses in our own party are tearing down American industry as fast as they can, and sending them to China.

Both sides are doing exactly the wrong things.

We’re in a glass house, and have no business criticising leftists as long as we have no better ideas than surrender.

Because that’s what we’re doing.

Arguably, even more efficiently than the left.

Chinese get offended to negotiate.

We are so clueless.

Someone needs to wake Americans up. Or we’re so screwed.

It would be nice, if it were CONSERVATIVES who were the ones to wake up.

Though. Getting sort of discouraged. Frankly.

Most seem brainwashed by the mantra of “free trade, free trade, free trade...”

Which they’ll be chanting right up until the time we’re invaded by a superior, better-funded, larger and far more motivated attack force - paid for and equipped entirely by.

Us.

So what will Major General Luo Yuan do? March a million men to the Yellow Sea and have them shake their fists at our ships?

Over-confidence becomes less appropriate, every day.

Our trade policies are guaranteeing, China will indeed have the capability to carry through with such threats.

Sooner perhaps, than any FReeper dares, to even contemplate.

Wake up people.

"I can remember when the U.S. was a world power."

I think you mean "The World Power". But then came Bush Sr. followed by clinton.
