Nine years later, church at Ground Zero still not rebuilt, but mad rush to build mosque

St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church stood in the shadow of the World Trade Center and was crushed under the rubble when the towers collapsed on September 11, 2001. Almost nine years later it has still not been rebuilt; the rebuilding project is mired in bureaucracy, with New York City officials being uncooperative and throwing up roadblock after roadblock.

The contrast is telling with the mad rush on the part of New York City officials to build the Islamic supremacist mega-mosque at Ground Zero, sweeping aside calls to landmark the Burlington Coat Factory building, into which crashed the landing gear from one of the 9/11 planes, as a war memorial -- despite the fact that buildings of far lesser historical significance have been designated as landmarks in New York.

From a March 2009 New York Times story on the church (where, incidentally, my mother was baptized):

Last July, the Port Authority and the Greek Orthodox Church announced a tentative plan to rebuild the church just east of its original site, at Liberty and Greenwich Streets. The authority agreed to provide the church with land for a 24,000-square-foot house of worship, far larger than the original, and $20 million. Since the church would be built in a park over the bomb-screening center, the authority also agreed to pay up to $40 million for a blast-proof platform and foundation. In recent negotiations, the authority cut the size of the church slightly and told church officials that its dome could not rise higher than the trade center memorial.

But a thirteen-story mega-mosque? Fine!

Unable to rebuild their church, the St. Nicholas congregation has held St. Nicholas Day services in a tent at Ground Zero:

I know that the city/port authority has now taken the Church's land by the order of emminent domain and HAS NOT compensated them for the land AT ALL.

Related Cos. is an international real estate group whose investors include Goldman Sachs; MSD Capital, LP; Mubadala Development Co.; Kuwait Investment Authority; and Olayan Group, according to the company's website. Mubadala Development Co. is owned by the Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, government.

Johnson reports that Related Cos. is involved in a joint project with the UAE-backed company, which is chaired by the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. Johnson said Related Cos. also has ties to the Saudi Arabian royal family and to financiers based in Dubai.

Fifteen of the Sept. 11 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia and two were from the United Arab Emirates, Johnson noted on Fox & Friends Monday morning.

The Saudi Arabian royal family, which the U.S. considers its ally in the war on terror, has been accused of bankrolling the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The construction of the Freedom Tower has been repeatedly stalled by financial and partnership issues, among other problems. The site developer and the Port Authority reached an agreement in recent weeks that is expected to put the project back on track.

The Port Authority board will meet with the two finalists in the coming weeks and is expected to make its decision by June 22, the Wall Street Journal reported.

How difficult is it to build or repair a church in Muslim majority nations? Answer: Very. Yet Bloomberg and company would have concerned citizens believe ME financial interests potentially controlling these sites is of no concern.

After connecting these dots, is it any wonder why the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church continues to sit in bureaucratic limbo (sharia influence?)?

If the iron workers stand in opposition by refusing to work on the site, it will never be built.

If the steel manufacturers refuse to supply the steel, it will never be built.

Must start building a list of all the companies involved in this project. From the concrete, glass, furniture, telephones, etc. and start protesting these companies.

I for one will never use a product or service from any company that participates in this project. EVER.

Ok then. So what do we do??? everything keeps on happening and...keeps on happening...and nobody seems to be able to stop anything. Believe me, muslims know exactly what they are doing while we are asleep...they know it's a good time. They are far from stupid.

And they are winning big time without terror this time - the eternal story of the frog in the cold and warm water. We don't feel anything yet, besides losing all our Christians right. When the water will start to boil, then we will feel it but it will be too late.

Everybody should be with Pamela from Atlas Shrugs all the way and sept11tgh in NY. She is fighting with her life there. Hope more of us could assist her and also help that beautiful little church.
