I believe Dubya really did think that the Islamic world was capable of taking a hint that “extremists” were neither wanted nor needed by anybody. Unfortunately, whether Dubya was ignorant about the facts or whether he overestimated his ability to persuade, it just so happens that most “moderate” Muslims have no problem nodding and winking at the “extreme” ones. This is not something that can be solved by dropping a few bombs.
I just heard Obama’s quote on the news. He said the Muslims HAVE A RIGHT TO BUILD THEIR MOSQUE AT GROUND ZERO!
Islam has punked all meaning out of the 1st Amendment. We can hear Bummer now: “Imperialistic Islam celebrating 9/11 as a conquest? Stuff and nonsense!” I normally would consider gay bars to be an abomination, but I heartily cheer the project to put one up right next door to the mosque. If only because it’s going to force the lefties upon the prongs of a cruel dilemma.
Bush’s factual comments about how Muslims celebrate their holiday are a far cry from Obama’s inviting Muslim leaders from around the world to a White House feast at taxpayer’s expense, after turning a cold shoulder to POTUS’ traditional interactions with Christian ceremonial events such as the National Day of Prayer, the White House Prayer Breakfast, etc. Can prayers of any major faith really harm Obama or his plans so much that he must suppress the rights of the majority of Americans in order to pander to his overlords in Muslim and atheist circles?

Having once lived in a Mafia-dominated area, I can easily understand their hesitation to rock the boat. They simply have no choice. That is the difference between Islam and freedom.
There is so much to be angry about these days.
This disgusts me. If he were to completely ignore all religious celebrations, I would get over it. But to LIE about his religion, then blatantly make the White House the staging area for the holiest of Muslim celebrations disgusts me.
There is no equality in his treatment of religions. The only equality I see is that he’s equally full of SH.... stuff.... from one day to the next.
I coulda sworn this was also the mood among American Muslims, where the danger of boat rocking is far less.
One of the tenets of Islam is the duty to lie to infidels about it. Bummer is just being a good Muslim.

Don't know about Ellison, but if in fact no one from CAIR was invited (which would be a major blow and slap in the face) they have got to be highly "pissed" and there is no way they can spin their way out of that one!

Note: if Obama was truly celebrating Ramadan, and was indeed a Muslim, for the period of Ramadan, he would not be able to eat, drink, smoke, etc. from sun-up to sun-down. It’d be interesting to look for pictorial evidence to see if there is any sign he’s doing any of these from sun-up to sun-down for the next month or so (until the new moon has been sighted).
