Sponsors of the proposed mosque near Ground Zero are not slamming the door on Gov. Paterson's idea to build the center someplace else.

"We are open to a conversation to find out more on what the governor has in mind," the center, Park51, said in a Twitter post yesterday.

Mosque developer Sharif El-Gamal has said the group is interested in hearing from Paterson but added that "this has always been about serving lower Manhattan."

He did not return calls and emails yesterday.

This openness to moving the site of the mosque away from Ground Zero has been totally missed by the rest of the mainstream media--and Obama who could have saved himself alot of grief if he wasn't so arrogantly clueless.

A Google news search shows two U.S. news reports, two UPI wire reports, one Jewish news and one Indian news report.

The blogosphere, including yours truly, totally missed this when it was reported on Friday.

Sure...they’ll relocate after demanding a premium for the property. Somehow, those profits will find their way overseas to fund terror. Just a guess.

It would be wonderful if it is moved.. Alas with this bunch it is talk, talk, talk. That is what they do to make the masses feel like they are doing something about it.. Oh I am sick of them “talking”.. Now that is just me!

>> Gov. Paterson’s idea

I wonder what NYS and Federal law says about providing state property for sharia. Is it similar to hosting a foreign embassy?

Camel’s nose under the edge of the tent IMO.

“...”this has always been about serving lower Manhattan.”

Manhattan ain’t that big, and there are a number of mosques already existing there. I call BS.

They will not move this project. It doesn’t make any sense to do your Endzone Dance in the Parking Lot.

Cordoba House is the proposed name of the mosque. Park51 is the name of the development company behind it.

I think we better be careful about describing this new place as a mosque, a very specific type of building for the worship of Islam. A mosque mostly has minarets for muezzin calls to worship--not going to work in noisy New York City!

...or they will build a structure, call it something else other than a mosque, and once it is built, and eyes are all turned in other directions, move their prayer rugs, and foot baths into the structure.

One way or another as long as the Burlington Coat Factory is taken down, and a structure funded by Arabs is its replacement, then a mosque it is going to be.

The only way to beat this is to destroy their movement period.

Expose, expose, expose them. We can’t expose them enough. The American people cannot be allowed to sleep, or have their attention(s) diverted on this matter.

Most people do not recognize that what happens in a mosque is sedition. Pure and simple. Islam is not just a “religion”, it is a cult, it is it’s own government, its judicial...is in its sharia, and its military (jihadis) all rolled into one with one intent ...and that is to rule wherever they take root. It is a invasive, systemic infection looking to take over the host once it has quantum.

This is not just a “religion”, but something that cloaks itself in those terms so it should not be given the same treatment contemplated under the first amendment. It’s rules are to consume whatever government is wherever it goes. To supplant and replace.

The sooner America learns this , the better.

Obama? Obama and Company? Should be tried for treason in this issue for promoting the establishment of a foreign government on our soils.

The mosque doesn’t belong there, period. Let the muslims celebrate their victory over the evil U.S. somewhere else.

Move it?

Great idea!

Move it right back to Mecca or some other third world islamic nation, where it belongs!

Mosque developer Sharif El-Gamal has said the group is interested in hearing from Paterson but added that "this has always been about serving proclaiming Muslim victory in lower Manhattan."

There. I fixed it.

Surely there’s a proper place for a mosque in New York. How about Rikers Island?

There are two different interests behind the mosque. There are the property owners who bought the building speculatively several years ago in the hope that they could develop it into high-end residential property.

They hoped their initial investment would be repaid with a profit as soon as a large property management company agreed to a joint venture financing. That never happened.

They were underwater on an unprofitable building for years. Then someone realized that if NYC real estate financiers were unwilling to throw away cash, wealthy sheiks might be if the project were near to their hearts. Enter firebrand imam al-Rauf to market the new strategy of a mosque.

I'm sure the property owners would be happy if the state of NY wrote them a check to buy out their property and relocate. Rauf will not be, since he's the one whose primary motive is to give the dead the middle finger.
