'I'd Love' a Led Zeppelin Reunion: Jason Bonham
Billboard ^ | August 12, 2010 | Gary Graff

Posted on 08/15/2010 12:42:22 PM PDT by ConservativeStatement

Jason Bonham knows better than to promise a Led Zeppelin reunion as part of his "Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience" show that goes on tour this fall. But he's certainly not opposed to the idea.

"I'm not going to hide it from them," Bonham, who filled his late father John "Bonzo" Bonham's spot and played with Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones at the 2007 Zep reunion concert at London's O2 arena, tells Billboard.com. "I will invite them to every show I can, because my goal and dream is, 'Wouldn't it be cool if I did something that they thought was cool and they would get up and play with me?' That's what I'm doing [this] for. I'd love it."

I have seen Jason Bonham play drums with “The Firm” with Jimmy Page on guitar, I have seen Robert Plant tour on his own.

Robert Plant’s vocal abilities are gone. Any reunion would be a sad shadow of its past glory and ultimately disappointing.

Meh, an over-rated cover band. Never credited the blues greats they ripped off.

Well them's fightin' words...

I love the blues, and I love Zep. I truly do think they were not only the greatest rock band, but musical geniuses. Blues adapt, they always have. And I can't think of a better adaptation of Blues from a smoky honky-tonk into a rock-merged, electric mega-colosseum than what they did.

If SRV had lived, they would have eventually had serious competition, because he was getting more into rock-blues. But his legacy was sealed with Double Trouble at the mostly-straight-blues level. So as far as I'm concerned, Zepplin takes the all-time blues-rock band crown.

Though a double-header with Zepplin and Double Trouble would have shifted the planet into a better orbit and solved tooth decay at the same time, me thinks.

Could be, I dunno.

The last performance I saw of his was in the Unledded DVD and I understand that was back in 1995-6 or so.

The Firm, wow, I had completely forgot about them....Paul Rogers from Bad Company and Free, oy, I'm feeling old.

Amen!

I've seen that crap slung before but none of them can back it up with an example.

Guess you’re not familiar with James Hendrix?

Try listening to Chess Records - all those English guys did, and then covered the tunes. Not sayin’ they’re bad covers, in fact I like quite a few of them. IMO, Zep sounded best when I was extremely Dazed and Confused. Sober, not so much.

Yeah, I admit much of the stuff they did back in the day escapes me now, but the classics still remain.

Zep was a unique band with their own sound, and original and yes, talented.

Now a days there is no such thing as people making it on talent, it's all about being extreme and sexual....I guess I just miss the old days.

Great band, I’d still pay to see them after all these years and without the one and only John Bonham.

I remember seeing an ad for a Foreigner concert presented by AARP about two years ago. Guess it doesn’t Seem Like the First Time anymore.

Yes, something like that. Those whistles call in demons...or something like that.

You must not remember the mid 70's, the Hustle was a major hit by Van Mc Coy.

You made me watch that... What the eyes have seen can not be unseen...

I had the skin of my heal removed by a disco dancer once on a one time date. I was very young and niave; used a fake i.d. to get into the disco bar. The whistle had ‘em goin’ in a frenzy and gave me a headache and physical injuries. Mr. one time date man never was able to speak with me again. :)
