Opinion: Why I Miss George W. Bush (Liberal BARF Alert!)
AOL News ^ | August 16, 2010 | Michael Cohen

(Aug. 16) -- The phrase "I miss George W. Bush" is a sentiment I never thought I'd have reason to express. But as America slowly descends into a vicious spiral of bigotry and fear over the fact that Muslim citizens want to exercise their religious freedom a few blocks from ground zero -- well, I kind of miss the guy.

Now to be clear I don't really miss the George Bush who "won" the 2000 election; who plunged our country into the worst foreign policy disaster in American history in Iraq; who sanctioned the use of torture and other rule-of-law abuses; who believed in intelligent design but not the science behind climate change; and who largely fiddled while the U.S. economy burned. Him, I don't miss all that much. But the George Bush I do miss is the one who said this only a few weeks after Sept. 11.

You know the latest DNC talking points on the Ground Zero Mosque controversy are really in full swing, when they start pretending to wax nostalgic over GWB.

I still don’t see the controversy. Government tells churches where they can and can’t build all the time. What’s the problem with telling the Muslims where they can and can’t build a mosque?

But as America slowly descends into a vicious spiral of bigotry and fear over the fact that Muslim citizens want to exercise their religious freedom a few blocks from ground zero

Where was all of this bigotry in the 9 years since 9/11?

Where were the Americans who were protesting the exercise of religious freedom by Muslims?

Where were the columnists like this one when Americans were fighting and dying for Muslim lives overseas these last nine years?

As I said in another post--for liberals, the long history of American tolerance and openness means NOTHING. America is always on trial, and one incident wipes out countless examples of religious freedom.

We have had nine years post-9/11 where we did not attack Muslim Americans while Americans and Christians were strung up and slaughtered in foreign lands.

We, in turn, didn't throw rocks at Muslims, we didn't burn mosques, we didn't kill imams, we didn't picket anti-American places of worship.

Then ONE mosque causes controversy...and all of that is gone in a flash, and we're bigots.

The only thing I'm bigotted against is retarded liberal writers who can't stop themselves from unleashing their illogical hatred toward the most open, most accepting people who've ever lived.

In NYC the Landmarks Commission can declare a church a landmark and prevent any change, modifiction or sale of the structure. The pastor of the parish I taught in back in the 70s in Brooklyn received a letter informing him the church was in line for landmark status. Being a lawyer, he responded that any attempt to do so would be tied up in court until the Second Coming. He understood that the value of the property may be more important to the mission of the Catholic Church than the building, as its sale would bring substantial monies. The Commission backed down, but they’ve declared more visible churches landmarks. Episcopal St. Bartholomews on 5th ave, and prevented the sale of parts of its property to developers. So you’re spot on. Local govts tell religions what they can do with their land all the time.

The writer confuses, intentionally i’m sure,Bush stating not all Muslims were guilty of 9/11 (though a great many celebrated it)with having the ‘right’ to build a mosque in what is a culturally (for Americans) sensitive area.
If confronted with this sleight of hand i’m sure the weasel would attempt to parse and stretch the original statement out with the bigot attack,”don’t you believe they have the right? Do you think all Muslims were ivolved in the attack?” in order to obfuscate what is a clearly deliniated line.

The DNC is clearly obsessed with Bush.

They must continue to run against Bush, lame as that is, when the alternative is to run on their abysmal record of heading the nation down the road to destruction.

What would be the reaction of the Democrat Party activists pretending to be “Journalists”, if the Aryan Nation wanted to build an office for their organization next door to the hotel in Memphis where MLK Jr was assassinated?

What the perverted, suicidal Liberal mind cannot understand is that Islamic Law does not work here under any circumstances. Liberals use selective religious support when they hate Christianity, which is far more tolerant than Islam.

They hate us, they hate themselves, they are useless.

*science behind climate change*

Lefty lost all credibility when he refers to climate change as science without putting “science” in quote marks.

Does anyone that doesn't own carbon credits, who is not a power mad politician, still believe in AGW?!?

How sweet. This liberal misses Bush because he loves Muslims. Especially considering democrats got 100% of the Muslim vote under Bush. I am still mad that TSA gives millions of Americans who they know are not terrorists the terrorist treatment, just to make Muslims feel better.

And every time a terrorist tries a new trick, they make traveling even worse for us non-terrorists : no liquids, full body scans, etc. Yet, after the fact it is obvious that these terrorists are easily identifiable and the government screwed up.

“How sweet. This liberal misses Bush because he loves Muslims. Especially considering democrats got 100% of the Muslim vote under Bush.”

Actually, Bush got a good bit of the Muslim vote...credited to Muslim convert/amnesty author Grover Norquist.

Grover Norquist’s Strange Alliance With Radical Islam
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/fr/561786/posts

[snip]During the 2000 campaign, Norquist urged Karl Rove to focus on the Muslim vote—pointing to, among other things, the thousands of Muslims in the key state of Michigan. By all appearances, the Bush campaign heeded Norquist’s advice. In an admirable departure from the usual Republican script, Bush frequently integrated mosques into his platitudes about churches and synagogues. In the second presidential debate, Bush vowed to repeal the use of secret evidence, just as Norquist had promised. Bush even named Saffuri as the campaign’s National Advisor on Arab and Muslim Affairs.

When Bush won, Norquist credited the Muslim strategy. “Bush’s talk about outreach and inclusion had extraordinary results—the Muslim community went 2-1 for Bill Clinton in 1996 and almost 8-1 for Bush in 2000,” he told The Washington Times. (That statistic is almost certainly untrue, and Bush actually lost Michigan, the state where Muslims are most heavily concentrated.) Or, as Norquist put it in the Spectator, “George W. Bush was elected President of the United States of America because of the Muslim vote.”

I was thinking about 2006 and 2008. Like blacks GWB lost them all in his second term, lost Hispanics too.

Understood. Just proof all that Islam/hispanic pandering didn’t do Bush one bit of good.

“And every time a terrorist tries a new trick, they make traveling even worse for us non-terrorists : no liquids, full body scans, etc. Yet, after the fact it is obvious that these terrorists are easily identifiable and the government screwed up.”

Makes as much sense as gun control - the idea that by disarming law-abiding citizens, you keep criminals from using firearms.

Same kind of thinking.

EVERYTIME we come up with ONE MORE DRACONIAN method of controlling terrorism to counter a new initiative of theirs, we are a little less free and they move on to something else.

The way to deal with a problem is to solve the problem - in this case MUSLIMS. You don't cure a disease by ameliorating the symptoms.
