Ray Bradbury hates big government: 'Our country is in need of a revolution'

Ray Bradbury is mad at President Obama, but it's not about the economy, the war or the plan to a construct a mosque near Ground Zero in New York City.

“He should be announcing that we should go back to the moon,”

“I think our country is in need of a revolution,” Bradbury said. “There is too much government today. We've got to remember the government should be by the people, of the people and for the people.”

The native of Waukegan, Ill., has never been shy about expressing himself -- he described President Clinton with a word that rhymes with "knithead" back in 2001.

"We have too many cellphones. We've got too many Internets. We have got to get rid of those machines. We have too many machines now."

Dear Mr. President, There are too many states nowadays. Please, eliminate three. P.S. I am not a crackpot.

I love Ray Bradbury. His writing is deceptively simple, his imagery sticks in the mind for years, and he says what he means.

I’m a huge fan.

“There is too much government today. We’ve got to remember the government should be by the people, of the people and for the people.”

Nice!

The comments under the article are typical lib idiocy. Martian Chronicles isn’t science fiction, it’s total fantasy. The idea that we shouldn’t go into space because it’s not “green” enough is laughable. The idea that going into space would mean more “big government” ignores the existence of NASA already.

Flippin’ morons.

It is funny that while Liberals dream of some Utopian society that can only exist in the realm of fiction, so many SciFi authors lean right. It probably comes from the need to study history then extrapolate where it may lead to give them that perspective.

“He should be announcing that we should go back to the moon,”

The irony is that the Apollo program was a poster child for the big, government-funded, top-down bureaucratic approach to public works.

“...he described President Clinton with a word that rhymes with “knithead” back in 2001.”

Huh ... my nickname for Bubba rhymes with “dastard” or “stock sucker” ... the “stock sucker” of course, is from the Whitewater era .... I would have expected something more colorful from Ray ...

I thought NASA's challenge was outreach to the Muzzies?

Makes me wonder who Ray (government is too big) thinks should be paying to go back to the moon.

There are some things that require so much money and technical expertise that it's not going to get done unless it's done by a government and a really rich government. At least two of those things are successfully executing a big war and getting off the planet.

Yes, but they should be looking for Muslims in space to reach out to, and area we’ve really fallen behind on and for which we should be ashamed.

A little help here please. I remember reading a short story years ago and the premise was that the government was controlling people to make everyone the same. Stronger athletes were forced to wear weights so they wouldn’t outperform other athletes. Smarter people were forced to take drugs to limit their abilities. One man goes against the government and refuses to take the drugs and is pursued by the government. This ring a bell to anybody?

Was it the Democrat Party playbook?
