Feds Clear DeLay. He Calls Pelosi “The Swamp”
Chad Pergram | August 16, 2010

It's been a long time since former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX) got the chance to come out swinging in public.

But that's exactly what the feisty former GOP leader did Monday when the Justice Department told his attorneys it closed its inquiry of DeLay after a six year probe.

DeLay was his vintage himself during a telephone conference call with reporters.

"They didn't have anything," DeLay boasted. "The case was so weak I never did meet with anyone from the Justice Department and never appeared before the grand jury."

The FBI began to probe DeLay for his links for former superlobbyist Jack Abramoff. Abramoff did jail time after pleading guilty to fraud and for trying to bribe lawmakers. Former Rep. Bob Ney (R-OH) went to jail for his relationship with Abramoff.

"I never understood why it took so long," said DeLay.

While in office, DeLay was known for his abrasive style of politics that earned him the moniker The Hammer. But he swung hard at the tactics of others.

"In the new politics, it's no longer good enough to beat you on policy. They have to completely drown you and put you in prison and destroy your family and reputation and finances and dance on your grave," DeLay said.

**SNIP**

"She is the swamp," hissed DeLay of Pelosi.

“In the new politics, it’s no longer good enough to beat you on policy. They have to completely drown you and put you in prison and destroy your family and reputation and finances and dance on your grave,” DeLay said.

The liberals are so used to using these tactics
that they have forgotten what men are like who
have gone through the process and now have no fear.

Grrrrrrrr.

"It's a sad day for America when one of the most corrupt members to ever walk the halls of Congress gets a free pass," chastised Melanie Sloan of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.

DeLay is hunted like a dog by Democrats because he was successful at thwarting the Democrat/progressive agenda.

Not yet, but he still has state charges to go. But the Republicans should be bringing forth the Democrats have made bogus ethic violations and even criminal ones for years against Tom Delay, the US Attorney firings, Valerie Plame.

After years of negative statist media coverage proclaims these people guilty then the exhonoration lasts 1 day.

I heard Breitbart talking about Shirley Sherrod and that the settlement that was going to black farmers who were discriminated against. There were only 18,000 black farmers in the Country at the time of the suit, and they were getting billions of dollars. It was something like 50,000 for every black farmer in the country, but only about 100 were on the suit. This is why Obama hushed her up by firing her, Breitbart’s other point was the crowd reaction not just what she said.

I am trying hard not to get my hopes on on Delay.

After all he was effective as a legislator and a conservative.

“The rinos threw Delay under the bus because he was so effective(conservative)I wont ever forget that.”

The RINOS???? As I remember it Delay was done in by the Republicans own ethics rules and an unscruplious Democrat prosecuting attorney who Grand Jury shopped until, after 5 or 6 Grand Juries turned him down, finally got a GJ to indict DeLay..... Rinos??????

Try being tough on the Dems.....They’re the real “enemy.”

I have read a lot of comments on this board that said Delay was himself a Rino who spent too much money along with GW and was part of the problem.

I do not subscribe to that thinking however I think it is a curious phenomenon that people should be aware of
B/DDS (Bush/DeLay Derangement Syndrome)?

Pelosi is scum and events since 2006 have shown her hypocrisy and criminality.

Drain the swamp, voters, and also take out the trash.

Delay is a truly good person. He has given a lot of time to children’s charities and adopted foster children.

He ran his own pesticide business and saw first hand what government overregulation can do to the small businessman - one of the reasons he was called to activism because the EPA outlawed a good fire ant product.

A lot of people also don’t know he spent time as a child in Venezuela and understood what freedom costs, as he saw villagers killed by leftists. He is also a strong Christian. Yes he’s tough, but he sees himself as a fighter for the individual American and personal freedom.

I like this guy.

JANUARY 2008 : (TX DELAY ON MCCAIN) John McCain’s win in New Hampshire did not impress former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay. Revealing a divide in the Republican Party between moderates and conservatives, DeLay slammed McCain in an interview Wednesday with FOX News. “There’s nothing redeeming about John McCain,” DeLay said. The Texas Republican added that McCain “does betray conservative principles.” When asked on which issues McCain was not a conservative, he said: “Mercy, there’s tons of them” and proceeded to list the Senator’s positions on the environment, immigration, the International Criminal Court, his support for affirmative action and taxes. He also called McCain a “hypocrite” when it came to lobbyists.
. . . .When asked about the divisions in the party between moderates and conservatives, DeLay said “I don’t think there’s a schism in the party. The party doesn’t exist. It’s rebuilding.”

Lest folks forget, DeLay was the guy who tried to save Terry Schiavo in Congress. Unfortunately Gov. Jeb Bush washed his hands, and Attorney General Charlie Crist did everything short of pulling out the feeding tube to ensure her death. Of course he also supported earmarks in a misguided effort at party building.
