Democrats who reluctantly slashed a food-stamp program to fund a state-aid bill may have to do so again to pay for a top priority of first lady Michelle Obama.
The House will soon consider an $8 billion child-nutrition bill thats at the center of the first ladys Lets Move initiative. Before leaving for the summer recess, the Senate passed a smaller version of the legislation that is paid for by trimming the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as the food-stamp program.

I can foresee a day when all Democrat interest groups and dependency groups are at each other’s throats, fighting over what money is left.
Kentucky fried chicken ain’t gonna like this...
They pay for spending now for promised cuts years from now. It’s all smoke and mirrors.
Then in those future years declare that restoring the budget is an emergency and therefore budget rules don't apply.
That is how the game is played and it is time to change the rules.
I can see November from my vantage point.
This is one of those “Feel Good” projects that zero # 2 is pushing. The “Feel Good” title is for herself of course, since it won’t make any difference in anyones diet.
I’ve worked in urban areas and I know that the people will eat what they want to whether or not healthy foods are available at a reasonable price.
There is a farmer’s market with fresh veggies, dairy, and quality meats. The Farmers market has a pretty good business, but so do the KFC’s, MacDonalds, Chicken Holidays, Burger King, and a half dozen other fast food chains within a few blocks.
I’ve seen all kinds of people at both kinds of places, eating healthy foods, and foods that are 80% fat and salt. The fact is, in the winter when the Farmer’s market has limited produce and is only open a few days per week, when summer comes I would expect to see less people at the fast food places, but that’s not the case. I don’t see any less people at the fast food places in the summer when the farmer’s market is open every day with plenty of goods.
People will eat what they want, zero #2 won’t change a thing. Besides, she needs to work on her big fat @ss and cut down on taxpayer funded vacations.
Food stamp money to pay for an decidedly overweight, thick legged, big assed busybody to tell us that our kids are fat. Incredible. You couldn’t write this kind of comedy if you wanted to.
I find it repulsive that the dims are doing this while they are destroying the economy and peoples livelyhoods. All for the First Wookie's "pet" project.
She had better get working on her youngest daughter's weight issue before she lectures the serf's!
I see it in the same light as environmentalists blocking oil drilling...even though it makes logical sense that first world economies use oil.
When was the election where we voted for Mooch-elle to run anything related to national policy or funding???
yes, and after more and more of us go Galt, and quit feeding the monster, what will they do???
I’ve really cut back on my spending, partly because the future is so scary, and partly because I’m not going to do anything to help them out of the mess they’ve created. Call it spite.
That’s it in a nutshell....it’s about giving Michelle something to do that keeps her mouth out of the hot spots. .....but the money for it will not find it’s way to her pet project....smoke and mirrors.
So, instead of “Let them eat cake”
It’s “Let them do Jumping Jacks”
Brilliant!
I suggest that start a new fundraiser for kids and exercise let’s call it “Jump Rope for Food Stamps” - I remember the good ol’ days when it was just “Jump Rope for Heart”
