Since being "fat" has been perverted to the point where a woman has to look like she just crawled out of Buchenwald to be considered not fat, the term has become meaningless.

Having walked through both a shopping mall and a Walmart in the last few days, I would strongly challenge that statement. In fact, "plump" is the new thin. "Fat" now means you use an electric cart to shop while carrying an oxygen bottle.

I simply don’t see how good manners can be used as a lever against the practitioner. Practicing good manners is good for your heart, regardless of what the other person does. Well, unless they physically assault you, I guess.

I play a little *game* here. S. Florida is filled with the most sour people you can imagine. I smile at them and see how many I can get to smile back. I would say far fewer than 50% but so what? Even if I just brightened one person’s day, that’s enough for me. I’m not going to let the angry people win.

People generally hold doors for each other here in Utah. Men or women. When I visit family in Los Angeles (as seldom as possible because LA really really really sucks) it’s different, much more rudeness.

I’m wondering about cultural difference between liberal and conservative ares? Or is it a big city thing?

I have a related anecdote. Years ago my Dad had a stroke and was forced to use a wheelchair. I came down to visit after he’d got settled in and my Mom told me to watch how quick black people were to help him in restaurants and how white people were more likely to push ahead and let the door slam on him. I thought she was joking.

My Dad loved to go to the IHOP so we’d take him everyday when I visited and dang if my Mom wasn’t right. White people would see us pushing him towards the entrance and they’d run to get ahead and often let the door slam. Not always though but a huge percentage. Black people however invariably would jump up and open/hold the door and even offer to help push my Dad. I’ve never forgotten it. We’re white BTW.

People use the manners they were taught as youths. Manners used to be taught at home and in the schools. Apparently not so much any more. Part of “doing your own thing” I guess. But the loss is disturbing,. After all good manners are the lubricant of society and make life more pleasant for everyone. Only subhuman barabarians use bad manners.

But then...when something is maintained, it is a continual earning of that respect...same thing.

But they will never have their way. Most women do not want an emasculated man.

In Genesis 3, part of the curse was that the woman would always desire the man’s role and authority,
but the man would always rule over her.

Bear in mind, “rule over” was not the original arrangement, she was to be his voluntary helpmeet.

Yes, and when you have your roles in a marriage worked out, it works. But the husband has to be willing to lead. I think in a lot of marriages the husband is as unwilling to lead as the wife is to follow.

Point taken. That guy just irked the crap out of me.

Some extra poundage might be an advantage when the depression comes on strong in the next couple years, though.

As Dr Voddie Baucham says -

Husbands, you ARE the leader. It doesn’t say you “should be” the leader. You ARE the leader.

Now, whether you do a good job of it or not determines how successful your marriage and family will be.

Liberals think that they can destroy our western civilized society and replace it with some socialist utopian ideal. Feminism, pop psychology, degraded morals, bad manners.... all are part of their sick plan.

I’m afraid that the liberals are incapable of seeing that their campaign of societal destruction will hurt them worst of all in the long run. If society’s compact falls apart then it’s the tough weapon wielding traditionalists who will dominate the weak fuzzy headed idiots. Just like always. Instead of enslaving everyone to their totalitarian Welfare State it’s they who will end up in chains.

Freedom is a rare and precious commodity on Earth. Should the libs successfully wreck our society the result will be centuries of chains again. Liberals are fools.

Hmmm...trying to create a phrase in response to “respect must be earned” is not as easy as I thought. Chalk it up to inept choice of words.

What I was so poorly trying to point out is that respect is earned by giving it. It is much easier to be treated with respect when you give it first. If we only give kindness when we are given it, there will be less kindness in the world.

Sorry if it seems kinda fuzzy, it's not an easy concept for me to get across. Regardless, have a great day and thanks for your response.
