Video 2:03

Former US vice president Al Gore visited Mexico on August 4, 2010, invited by Governor Enrique Peña Nieto, a controversial politician and likely candidate for the presidency in 2012. Gore gave a private speech to 300 invited guests. The press was barred from the event. Mexico state authorities refused to disclose how much Gore - who receives on average $170,000 US dollars per speech - was paid, and the source of his speaker fee remains a mystery.

Well, I hope they kept the nuns locked away from him. Algore has a habit of lifting funds from impoverished nuns and monks.

I believe the custom in much of Mexico is that the visiting speaker or dignitary is provided with the choice of
escort(s) from a number of selections.

The gentlemen of the press only get interested when Republican bigwigs do this sort of thing.

Good question. Mexico doesn’t really give a crap about his signature issue, either.
